Dragon Ball Super: Cooler's Wrath

CHAPTER 23: COOLER'S ASCENSION

Goku senses Broly's energy after the events that had taken place and smiles at how much Broly has improved and the immense power he possesses.

"It looks like he's got it under control now, but man, it's hard to concentrate with Broly around" he says.

Suddenly, Cooler punches Goku across his jaw and jabs him a few times in his chest. He round-house kicks Goku into the air, tailing behind for another punch, but Goku manages to catch it and the two are in a power struggle.

"You should keep your focus on the fight at hand," Cooler tells him.

He drags himself and Goku down into the water below them where they continue to exchange punches with each other. Cooler swings his tail tricking Goku into dodging before firing at ki-blast directly at his face. Goku ends up flying into the side of the reef as Cooler charges up and he recovers quickly to catch Cooler off guard with a punch. Goku grabs Cooler's tail and swings him around before slamming him right into the sea floor. Cooler plants his feet directly onto the sea floor, channeling his energy directly into his fists and unleashes an energy wave so big it departs the sea briefly into two sea walls. Goku is shocked at this possibility and fires a blast at Cooler who is unfazed and fires a barrage of ki from his finger tips. Goku charges at him, deflecting the blasts, as the sea begins to merge once again. Cooler charges directly at Goku and they clash just as the sea becomes whole once more. The two spring out of the sea punching each other.

"You don't seem to be letting up anytime soon are you?" Goku asks as the exchange blows.

"Clearly, I have one goal in mind and I won't stop till it's achieved" Cooler responds back before grabbing Goku by the leg with him tail and flings him away.

Goku quickly regains himself only to see Cooler holding a death ball in his palm, sending it right at him without any warning or notice. As the death ball hits the water and explodes, Cooler watches, waiting for it all to settle. He smirks still facing the crater he just made filling it with the ocean water.

"Very nice, I didn't think there was any time to dodge" he says looking behind him to find none other than Goku having survived the blast, "it was quite a clever trick."

"That was a nice one huh?" Goku responds, "it's called Instant Transmission."

"I know...it's one of my favorite techniques."

Goku is shocked to hear those words, "Favorite?"

Instantly, Cooler appears right in front of Goku and punches him directly in his face using instant transmission. Goku catches himself to find Cooler had already vanished once again.

"Well this changes everything" Goku states.

Instantly again, Cooler appears behind Goku and kicks him before going on a frenzy of punches and kicks, smacking Goku around using instant transmission. Goku catches the pattern and uses instant transmission himself to match with Cooler. The two begin connecting punches against each other in various places in the air while continuously using the instant transmission technique. As Goku tries to break away to breathe, Cooler catches him mid-instant transmission and slams him directly into the side of the cliff before tossing him into the air once more. Goku transforms from Super Saiyan God into Super Saiyan Blue instantly as Cooler charges at him aiming to knee Goku in the chest. However, Goku catches the attack easily and serious as he can be pushes Cooler away in order for him to see the transformation in all its glory.

"It's about time you finally decide to hold your half of the deal" Cooler says, "its rather fitting I kill you at your actual best."

"There's more power within me than you know Cooler" he tells him, "I even managed to reach a form that even Lord Beerus can't achieve yet. Sadly, I can't show you."

"What I see before me is enough. All the stories I've read on you seem to hold true."

"Glad I haven't disappointed yet."

"Yet, surely you know I haven't given it my all much like you."

"Well, let's change that."

Goku charges at Cooler and the two clash once more exchanging blows and ki blasts before Cooler manages to choke him using his tail. Just as Goku is about to bite his way free, Cooler throws him directly into the cliffside and presses his hand directly at Goku's throat. With Goku finally at a point he can't really break free, Cooler is ready to end the saiyan once and for all. He smiles, seeing Goku struggle, before Frieza arrives and punches Cooler, freeing Goku.

"Well, Well, it's about time you appeared brother," he says wiping the blood off his lip, "I was beginning to wonder when you would step up and I see you've come in your Golden color palette too."

Frieza is already pissed and Goku goes to stand beside him.

"Thanks Frieza, you really saved me there."

"Don't expect it to happen again" Frieza responds, "I'm the one that's meant to kill you, but for now Cooler is to die by my hand for what he's done."

"Oh by all means try" Cooler laughs.

Frieza charges at his older brother and siblings clash once again for round two. The two battle in the air before Cooler bests him with ease, taking advantage of Frieza's rage. Before he can fire a death beam at Frieza, Goku intervenes and joins the fray. Cooler starts fighting Goku once again before Frieza joins in and he ends up fighting both at the same time. It would be believed that it Cooler would have a tough time fighting Frieza and Goku at once, but he's rather fairing quite well against them both at once, blocking and dodging attacks while tricking them into hitting each other. In his mind, all the training he's been through all his life were for this moment and nothing will stop him.

"I will admit, Frieza, you always had the edge against me, being the so called prodigy. But, while you sought out nothing but a coloration, I found much more."

He lands on a rock standing within the water as Frieza and Goku watch. Cooler stares at them, preparing to reveal something.

"I trained every day since mother passed, hoping the time would come I would best you and show how much of a prodigy I could be" he says clenching his fists, "You two will be the first to witness this transformation. Something I found over the years that goes beyond our species considered final form."

Frieza and Goku are shocked to hear those words, having never thought that another stage to Frieza and Cooler's species could ever be discovered, but Cooler found it. Cooler channels his energy and the aura around him begins to glow. The water starts to rage around him and the sea floor begins to quake. His body mass begins to expand exponentially and his appearance beginning to change. His breast-plates and shoulder padded tone becomes hoop-like in shape while the carapaces on his wrists change drastically, gaining dark-blue sections and developing blade-like protrusions. The tip of his tail becomes sharp and pointy like a stinger and his head, except for his eyes, becomes shrouded behind something similar to an organic visor and four spikes extend from his skull with a dark-blue section in the middle of his head. Fully transformed, he smirks at Goku and Frieza who are still in shock.

"So, ready to die?"

Writer's Fun Fact:

So, Cooler shows his "Ascended form". It's common for Dragonball to just randomly give a new transformation for their fighters and I wanted to stay true to Cooler's character and how he supposedly found a form beyond. But instead of just giving a cool transformation to give him one, I wanted to also give him a reason to have it: he wanted to prove his brother, the only living thing closest to actual family, and himself that he can be as powerful and achieve lengths that aren't easy to reach. Cooler wanted to test himself instead of just getting some random color palette similar to Golden Frieza (there will be no Golden Cooler trust me). The state he managed to tap into does prove he's more powerful than any of them really believed. Even in the form previous, Cooler was able to stand on his own against Super Saiyan God and even Blue was nothing new to him. Now that he's transformed, like in the movies, expect it to be a lot harder to take Cooler down compared to the movies. It's gonna take a lot more than a single kamehameha or a spirit bomb and Cooler as you can see has learned several techniques in his years of constant training. An epic fight beyond what's seen so far will commence in the coming chapters so stay tuned. We've seen one pair of siblings meet face to face once again in this one, but next time we'll be checking on the other pair in this story of DBS: Cooler's Wrath.
