CHAPTER 24: PRINCE'S RECONCILE

With Cooler now having transformed, the event stopped all the fighting for a brief moment. The Z-Fighters sense the immense amount of energy coming from Cooler and it's on a level almost similar to Broly's.

"Who is that?" Yamcha asks, "that energy..."

Meanwhile, Vegeta and Tarble are still fighting with Tarble actually besting his brother and not allowing him enough time to attack. Vegeta is distracted by Cooler's increase in energy to focus.

"That Cooler guy," he says to himself, "his energy is amazing."

Tarble manages to punch Vegeta across his face before sensing Cooler's energy as well.

"He did his transformation."

Vegeta notices Tarble's guard is down and takes advantage by striking for his legs first and grabs him by his armor. He brings Tarble face to face with him and Vegeta appears serious.

"Do you see who you've sided with" he shouts at Tarble, "if he wins then it's the end of our race and we know it."

"You think that will win me over?" Tarble shouts back, "Cooler is not the one who abandoned me."

"Look, I admit my faults when we were younger, but you're my brother. I will not abandon you now."

Vegeta's words strike a cord within Tarble who pushes him away. Vegeta stares at his little brother, desperately waiting to see him change sides. Tarble is conflicted in wanting to believe his brother after everything he's been through in his life when Vegeta was never there. He stands frozen in place, contemplating.

"I have a wife and a planet to protect," he says, "siding with Cooler is the only thing protecting them, keeping them safe."

"I have a wife as well. Her name in Bulma," Vegeta tells him, "I have a family. Something I will fight to protect no matter the cost. And you're a part of that."

Tarble is trembling on the inside. It's unexpected to hear the things said by Vegeta and how similar of a situation they are in and the only difference between them is the fact they're fighting against one another. Vegeta reverts back to base form and looks at his left hand, the same one he clenched when he sacrificed himself to stop Majin Buu.

"Over the years, I let my arrogance get the best of me and I had a personal desire to best Kakarot in every way" he says, "I still do want to best him, but not for my own sake."

He looks at Tarble with intent to fight on if he musts.

"I do this to protect my family. I refuse to let my brother feel alone any longer."

Vegeta reaches out towards Tarble with open arms as if in surrender. Tarble has no clue what to think of his brother's actions at this moment and decides to continue their fight. Vegeta takes every hit Tarble unleashes, allowing himself to get beat up as his little brother gives it his arm, crying out of anger in the process. Tarble punches him down and, before he can land a final blow, Vegeta catches it, turning into Super Saiyan Blue. He stands up, unfazed from everything that was given to him, and hugs Tarble. Tarble is shocked to receive such a gesture, trying to hold back his tears.

Writer's Fun Fact:

It's rather short and sweet and for good reason. If their reconcile was extended it would've killed the moment in all honesty. Having the two brother's realize what they're fighting for and why was the way for Tarble to realize that, despite being abandoned as a child, his brother will be there for him. When I was writing the outline for each chapter many months ago in the summer, I was surprised I came to this point for Vegeta. There's only a few moments when Vegeta feels some sort of humanity and it always was when it involved family. Here in this story he was like that the whole time ever since he realized his brother was alive and on the enemy's side. Tarble isn't easily accepting but is giving  Vegeta a chance which in result, he's changing sides. Tarble is on par with basically up to SSJ God at this point, but having not experienced Blue yet, he's not per-say ready to be equal. I feel Tarble is a strategist and a powerhouse who learns his opponents first before saying alright, I can take this on. The pieces are slowly coming together reaching to the latter end of ACT II with still more to come. Stay tuned next time on DBS: Cooler's Wrath.
