I watch Makenna as she's at her locker.

"So when you gone make a move, big guy?" Josh asks.

"I don't know, dude." I say.

"Ay man don't doubt yourself. If she doesn't like you she doesn't like you." He says.

"Yeah, you're right."

"Now go for it." He says.

I walk over to Makenna's locker.

"Wassup Makenna!" I say.

I noticed her jump.

She holds her heart and laughs nervously.

"Jalen, what are you doing? There's nothing to save me from over here." She says jokingly.

"Haha, very funny."

"I was actually wondering if you would want to sit with me at lunch?" I ask.

"Me?" She asks.

"Yeah. Who else, kid?"

She laughs.

"I'm sorry, but I actually promised to sit with Olivia today." She says.

"Maybe next time though?" She asks closing her locker.

"Yeah, of course." I say as she's walking off.

"Bye, Jalen." She says smiling.

"What happened to Makenna sitting with us?" Josh asks as we're at the lunch table.

"She promised to sit with Olivia." I say simply.

"But she sits with her all the time." Scottie points out.

"Exactly." I say.

Josh smacks me in the back of the head.

"Stupid.. Makenna is the hard to get type. She's stubborn; you really thought she was gonna say yes the first time you asked her." He says.

"But why wouldn't she want to sit with me?" I ask.

"Yeah, why wouldn't she want to sit with basketball star Jalen Green?" Scottie says jokingly.

"I've messed with a lot of girls and out of all of them Makenna is just different." Josh says.

I look over at Makenna's table and see her.

"Yeah, you right." I say to myself.

"You said no!" Kennedy yells.

"Kennedy, shut up." I whisper-yell as people in the cafeteria looks at us.

I just told them that Jalen asked me to sit with him and I kindly declined to stay with the girls. Obviously, they were not happy of my choice.

"Are you stupid?!" Maddie yells.

"Maddie, hush." I say again.

"Jalen Green asked you to sit at his table and you said no?" Olivia asks. 

"I wanted to sit with you guys." I say.

"We could've came with you."  Liv says.

"Yeah, so I could've met Jalen." Kennedy says.

"And his sexy friends." Maddie says laughing.

"Y'all are just too much." I say laughing.
