I wake up to my parents opening my door.

"Get up and come downstairs! Parent meeting." My dad yells.

"Well good morning to you too!" I mumble.

I walk downstairs to see everyone already down their. I just look at my parents and roll my eyes.

"Makenna, no need for attitude. There is something important we need to tell you." Dad says.

I just plop myself on the couch beside Jayden.

"What?" We say at the same time.

We look at each other and smile.

"Kids.. I don't think you're gonna like this one bit." Mom says.

They seemed pretty serious.

"Mom... what is it?" I asked nervously.

"We recently got a promotion." Dad says.

"Well yeah. By the way y'all have been working y'all better have gotten a promotion." Jayden says.

I just shake my head and chuckle.

"Okay, new promotion. Congrats." I say dryly.

"So that means we'll also have to move." Mom says.

I just stood still in shock.

Moving! You know how many times I moved in my lifetime. It's our senior year they won't at least wait until the school year is over.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Jayden says.

"No fucking way!" I yell.

"Language." Dad says.

We sat there in silence.

"Is that why you wanted me to stop seeing Jalen? You didn't want me to get attached so we could just leave." I ask.

Mom has a guilty look on her face.

Jayden scoffs.

"At least she has a heart." He says.

"Why? Why? Why do we have to move?" I ask them.

"It's good money and it'll make our brand look good." Dad says.

"What? This big ass mansion isn't good enough. We need more cash for the Tesla." I mock.

I sigh trying not to get mad.

"Dad, do you know how hard it is to get a scholarship when you transfer schools?" Jayden says.

"I know son." Dad sighs.
