It was time to go to school.

Darryl pulled out his lunch box and a brown bag for Zak, beginning to pack two identical lunches. He put in a Ziploc baggie of Cheetos, a container of applesauce, and a peanut butter jelly sandwich wrapped in tinfoil with a napkin in each of the lunches. He passed one to Zak and they walked out the door, Darryl rubbing Zak's back as a way to comfort him. They get in Darryl's car and head to school.

When they arrive, they have only five minutes to get to class, due to delays caused by needing to make two lunches.

Zak and Darryl still have not spoken a word to each other all morning, and they plan to keep it that way, never speaking of the events last night. Zak would prefer to not have more traumatizing memories.

One of Zak's friends hits him lightly on the shoulder and he goes off with him, leaving Darryl by himself.

Darryl soon finds his friend as well, and they head to first period.

The day goes by all too quickly, and before the boys know it, it's the end of the day. Darryl walks up to his car, only to find a dark haired junior in a gray jack sitting on the hood.

"Why hello there good-lookin'." Darryl commented, jokingly.

"Why don't you say we take this back to your place." Zak responded, winking.

The boys burst into a fit of laughter, something much needed after last night's shenanigans. Darryl unlocked his car and hopped in with Zak following close behind. They drove back to Darryl's place.

When he arrived, Zak walked into the house, and to his surprise, saw no Ms. Kay. He looked at Darryl with confused eyes, and he informed Zak about her whereabouts.

"Mom has a day job as a cashier at the Spec's off Main Street." This only left Zak more confused. Sure Darryl didn't live in the worlds largest home, and it wasn't the best neighborhood, but it certainly wasn't something you could afford by checking out middle aged alcoholic's beer and wine. How did Darryl end up with a place this nice with his only parent being a single mother who had a retail job?

Perhaps Darryl wasn't the only one who had a secret.
