"Zak? What are you doing?"

Zak looked into Vincent's eyes, frozen. He didn't know how he was supposed to explain this. He spent all this time cooped up in here and didn't even come up with a valid excuse for when he got caught. Stupid.

"Zak... it's ok, you can talk to me."

Not knowing what to do, Zak sort-of... invited Vince into his temporary home. Confused, the senior sat down on the tile, looking around. It was bare of janitor supplies, but it was obvious that someone was staying here. Nonetheless, it was still clean. Zak's few clothes that he possessed were neatly folded in a pile next to his phone charger and personal hygiene tools. Once Vincent sat down cross-cross style, Zak followed in and huddled against a corner with his knees to his chest.

"What is this?" Vincent questioned.

"This is where I've been sleeping," responded through Junior. He gave no further explanation, allowing Vincent to wonder in his head.

"Did your mother kick you out?"

"Yes."

Vincent feels horrible at this point. He realizes that he could have asked Zak what was wrong or if he needed any help; but at the same time, how much can he really blame himself? Zak didn't come to Vincent for help either.

"You know you could have come to me for help, right?" The senior questions, not even sure he knows the answer anymore.

Zak stays silent.

"I still can help you- it's not too late. Or we could go to someone else, someone higher up who could he-"

"Please," Zak cuts him off quietly, "don't call CPS."

"Ok." Vincent agrees, clearly seeing that the boy was afraid. "At least come stay at my place for a while. There are only two rooms, each with a twin bed, that are occupied by my roommate and I. But we have a couch you could crash on; I mean anything's
gotta be better than this setup."

Zak thinks for a minute. He wants to say no. That this is working for him. That he doesn't need to leech off of someone else to survive. It would be the humble thing to do, but Zak is really getting tired of sleeping on the floor.

"Yes, I would love that."
