"Bitch." I heard someone say above me, causing me to look up as I saw Luke roll his eyes at me. I picked up my head, glaring at him as he sat a row over, and one seat ahead of mine. He had his headphones in, and was obviously tapping off-beat to some rock song. As the class started, he didn't care to remove his headphones, if anything he made them louder for the whole class to hear. It was hard for me to take my test, since in the corner of my eye all I saw was Luke bull-shitting all the answers, which bugged me since I had taken hours of my time to help him understand the concepts.
Looking up once again, I watched Calum who sat in the same row as Luke, but two seats ahead of him. I watched the back of his head like it was a shooting star, smiling as he rocked his head back and forth. His skin glowing, and the veins in his hand expanding as he clenched his fist, then released it, causing an indent to form between his thumb and forearm. Everything was so perfect with him. It was as if he was angel and I was looking over him instead of the other way around. He was so genuine, and when he'd turn his head to the side, his jawline would hit me right in the heart. And when would rest his head onto the desk, he would put his arm on his back, rubbing his shoulder as if he was stretching. I began to laugh, knowing that I was head over heels for this boy, wishing he would tell me he loved me again.
But it wasn't like that.
From what I knew, Calum was not interested in being in a relationship. People have told me that he was still unsure of what he wanted to do with his life. He played music, fairly well if I should add, he was incredibly smart, and he was oh so handsome. But it had been rumored that he was debating about going into some kind of military or navy program. His father served for the country, which unfortunately ended his life, and his step father had also served. I've heard from the boy himself that he wanted to serve, and even though I myself wasn't looking for a relationship, it was nice to at least be talking to somebody.
See, Calum and I acted as if we were dating, however there hasn't been one moment that somewhat initiated a relationship label. I liked Calum, a lot for that matter, hell, we told each other that we loved each other, but I was just so impatient on when he would ask me that six letter question that would make us official.
"Chelsea?" I heard somebody say, tapping my shoulder. I looked up at and saw Mr. Tulo hovering over me, looking at my test. "You only did five questions?" He laughed.
"Sorry." I stuttered, continuing the problem I had been solving.
"Chelsea the class ended, I'm going to need your test."
"But Mr. Tulo." I protested, not wanting to give it up. "There's six problems left, please let me stay through lunch to finish it."
"I'm sorry." He mumbled. "You had forty-five minutes."
I watched him as he took my test to his desk, shaking his head as I sat in my seat with my heart heavy.
"It's funny though." He laughed. "You're one of my best students, you always finish first. What happened?"
"I was just distracted." I sighed. "I would've finished."
I rolled my eyes, picking up my school bag and angrily walking towards the door, overthinking all of my actions from that class period that caused me to receive less than a fifty percent on that test.
"Tell you what." He muttered. "I'll give you twenty minutes after school."
"But I tutor Luke after school."
"Priorities are priorities."
I rolled my eyes, politely storming out of the class upset since he was the one who got me into the whole tutoring mess.
"What's wrong?" Calum asked, pulling me in for a hug as I walked out, obviously upset.
"I didn't finish my Calc test, so I have 20 minutes after school, but I'm supposed to tutor Luke and I'm just so stressed!" I whined angrily.
"Why didn't you finish?" He asked, holding my cheeks in his hands.
"I was uh- distracted." I admitted. Calum laughed, hugging me then taking my hand to walk to lunch. I sighed, knowing I'd have to talk to Luke and let him know I'd be late. But there was just something so different about him at school versus when it was just me and him. It was annoying, yet comforting since I knew he was a genuine guy. I loved it, but I hated it.
"Chels?" Calum asked, snapping his fingers in my face. "What do you keep daydreaming about?"
"You." I stuttered, mentally slapping myself across the face. I blushed, knowing he would think it was cute, however I thought of it as needy.
"Aw." He smiled. "I daydream about you too."
As the bell rang for our last class together, we walked, hand in hand happily in our honeymoon-like stage. If only Calum would ask me out.
I watched him as he held up bones, peeking his eyes over them and smiling at me, pinching my cheeks. Having anatomy with Calum was my favorite class since he would play around and make the assignments interesting. He would giggle, and make jokes, causing me to fall even harder for him. Calum smiled, looking into my eyes and poking me with a finger from the human skeleton. I laughed, not saying a word just smiling and feeling as if I was in a different world with him.
