I became aware of a few small facts as sleep left my mind. One of them was that Colt’s arms were still wrapped around me and his face was buried into my neck. His breathing told me he was still asleep behind me. I allowed myself to enjoy to feelings he evoked in me. The comfort of his arms around me had been what had finally relaxed my mind yesterday and allowed me to fall asleep. I could feel the current of our bond coursing through my entire body as I lay there. His arms were holding me tightly, almost as if he thought I’d disappear on him if he didn’t. A slight smile made its way onto my face as I thought about how I could get use to waking up like this. I still didn’t like him all that much though so of course this wasn’t going to happen again for a long long time.

The second thing I noticed was that I felt more alert than ever before. My sense’s felt stronger and I was wide awake even as I continued to lay there with my eyes closed. The small amount of left over pain my body had been feeling just yesterday was gone as well. I felt better than I had ever felt before and my mind wondered over this. The only thing that had really been different this time was that Colt had been beside me as I slept. It made me slightly uncomfortable knowing he may have had something to do with the way I felt now upon waking. Everything about me was heightened and full of energy.

That small fact is what led to the third one as I heard an almost silent click and an unfamiliar smell assaulted my nose. It wasn’t quite unpleasant but it wasn’t anything I could remember smelling before. I slight flash went off beyond my closed eyelids reflecting through them and I knew that we weren’t alone. I let my radar go off to detect whether this person was a threat or not, but I couldn’t detect anything that intended to harm me. Nothing here flooded me with any sort of danger, not like the doctor had earlier anyways.

Hesitantly I allowed my eyes to open just a fraction. I didn’t want this person to be aware that I was now awake and yet I was curious of who had decided to interrupt my sleep. Even my sight seemed to have improved overnight. I’d always had non-human type of vision but I could see even better now. I could see almost as well as a werewolf. I’d established in that dark place I’d been with my father that my sight was not that of a werewolf or I would’ve been able to see there just as he had. My eyes automatically found the person who stood just inside the doorway to my darkened room with a camera held up to her eyes. Just as another flash went off I scrunched my eyes closed tightly. It stung like bitch to have that flash hit them and I heard her breath catch in her throat when she noticed my discomfort.

“I’m sorry dear; I didn’t mean to wake you. It’s just that… well… seeing you and my son cuddled up in that bed had me wanting to capture the moment. You looked so comfortable and happy asleep next to each other, I just couldn’t resist.” The woman said quietly.

“It’s okay.” I replied.

‘So this is Colt’s mother’ I thought to myself as I opened my eyes to fully look at her. There was no point in pretending I was asleep when she and I both knew that I wasn’t. Even through the darkness of the room I could tell she had the same blue eyes that Colt and his father had. Her hair was blond and without any grey. She looked young, far too young to have given birth to Colt. She was a small woman, a few inches shorter than even Liam, at about five foot nothing. Her entire size was small though, it wasn’t just her height. She was a very tiny and delicate looking woman and I found it hard to imagine that she was the Alpha female here. She looked like the type of woman that people could walk all over. Not to mention she was so tiny in comparison to her husband. I knew better than anyone how looks could be deceiving though she stood as an obvious truth to that. From what my father had told me it took a strong female for fate to match them with an Alpha. I knew she could hold her own when it came down to it and I found myself wondering if she was wolf or human. I could smell wolf off of her but it could be her husband’s scent mixed in with her own. He had marked her after all and even I knew a woman’s scent changes after that and the males scent mixes in with her own.
