I gazed down into Lady's face like I had been all night. I couldn't come up with the will power to look away from her peaceful face as she slept in my arms. Just the sight of her sleeping so blissfully in my arms filled me with pride. I was so proud that she’d finally opened up a piece of herself to me. She’d finally told me something that no one else had said and I had the suspicion that no one else knew the full story either. She’d been hurt though when I’d told her about Sheila but that wasn’t something that I wanted to keep from her. I needed her to know the truth of what had happened. I needed her to hear it from me and not someone else.

Our conversation from last night, or rather her story, had been playing over and over in my head. She’d made me promise not to go after those Demons and it didn't matter how badly I wanted to do just that, the promise alone had made it very clear that I needed to resist the urge. She was serious when she'd said that she wouldn't forgive me for intentionally putting myself in harm’s way. That was exactly what I would be doing to. I didn't know the first thing about fighting those creatures or defending myself from them. As much as it grated my last nerve to know I couldn't destroy them for causing so much pain in her life, I was glad that she'd made me make that promise.

My eyes travelled the length of her face toward her soft succulent lips. I remembered very clearly how it had felt when she’d placed them on mine. I could still feel the slight tingle that was left behind when I pulled away from her. I could still taste her in my mouth and remember the pleasure that had filled me as my tongue danced with hers. Never had I imagined that a kiss could be so perfect, that it could feel as amazing as it had. I’d never felt the joy of someone’s lips against my own straight down to my toes. I hadn’t wanted to pull away. I hadn’t wanted to end that blissful moment. I had to though. I could feel my wolf stirring below the surface wanting nothing more than to feel his teeth sink into the soft flesh of her neck, to claim her for my own and make it known to the world. Even through the lust filled haze that enclosed me, I knew she would be heartbroken if I took that choice from her. I didn’t want to risk the fragile trust she’d given me. I didn’t want to unintentionally ruin something that had finally been working out to my favor. So with great effort I had forced my wolf back and pulled away ignoring my wolf’s protests.

I’d been unable to help running my tongue over the pulse that beat rapidly through the soft spot of her neck though, the spot I’d mark to claim her as my own. It had been done as a silent promise for later and my wolf had been somewhat appeased knowing that I would claim her eventually. I knew the promise wasn’t lost on her. I knew the thrill it sent through her when she felt me tracing that vein. I knew that she was on the verge of losing control herself and I hugged her close to me loving that I felt so close to her in that moment. It had been a delightful surprise when she’d kissed me. It had filled me full of emotions I wasn’t used to and could barely even distinguish but I welcomed them openly. I knew she did it out of impulse. She did it to calm me down from losing control on my anger once again. Either way she’d given into the attraction she was feeling toward me and it gave me more hope than I had felt to this point.

I knew the moment she was finally waking. I could hear the slight change in her breath. I could hear the slight change in her heart rate. The light flutter of her eyelids before they began to open filled me with apprehension though. I was worried over how she would react now. After sleeping through the night and clearing her head I wondered how she would view the events of last night. Would she be upset? Angry? Embarrassed? Would she be happy? I hoped she would be as content as I was but I couldn’t help but worry over how she would react.

I smiled anyways though as her eyes opened and she instinctively reached up to rub the sleep from them and clear her vision. When her eyes met mine I watched the blush that made her so much more attractive flush over her cheeks. A warm smile found its way onto her lips as her eyes traced over my face.
