Its not possible.
Its impossible.
She's dead. She died.
I watched the tears fill her eyes as she looked over at me, frozen.
Frozen.
"Say hello Athena." Jameson demanded, before ripping the cloth out of her mouth allowing her to speak.
"Moma?" I whispered, my grip going slack on my sword.
My world crash and realigned.
Nothing made sense.
"Amara, my baby" she whispered, her voice cracking, her warm honey voice.
I stepped forward, just as Jameson easily slipped a knife to her neck.
"You will pledge your soul to mine, or I will slit Khana's throat, right here and now."
Khana.
What Ginora had called me.
Khana.
Queen?
She'd been here this whole time?
One foot in and one foot out. She had gone here after the accident.
The place she and I had always been tethered to.
Holy shit.
Jameson pressed the knife deeper into her skin, forcing a small growl from her mouth. "Drop your weapons, Princess. Let us be civilized with this. I don't want to hurt her, but I will."
My eyes raked over her.
She looked the same, just dirty and tired ... drained.
But still young.
Still my Mother.
My swords thumped to the ground.
"Just don't hurt her, please" I whispered, bring my hands up, breathing out in relief as he loosened the knife at her neck.
This is how he'd been doing it. Getting Clora to our Realm, stealing power from Liese, all through my Mother.
"Amara, don't. I'm not afraid to die, do not yield to this maniac" she hissed at me.
I couldn't say anything, because I would do anything for her safety, even give up my own life. "I'm sorry, Moma, I'm so sorry, but I won't watch you die in front of me again. Not again."
"Thats right, my Queen. Now you're going to come with me, no fighting, do you understand?" he asked.
I felt that pressure at my back, I nodded, my eyes never leaving my Mother's.
"I'm so sorry. This is all my fault." I never looked away from her eyes.
"You look so strong, so much like your Father. I'm proud of you, Amara, and getting to stare at your face, even just one last time is gift enough." She whispered.
Fuck.
She's giving up, she- "Dad's here" I spit, watching her whole body freeze.
If I never met Vikkan, I would know that soul mates exist, simply from the look that enter my Mother's eyes. The same one that had been in my Father's eyes that night so long ago at the ball.
When he looked at me and saw her.
It was enough to shock them all.
Clora, Jameson, and my Mother included, all stopped breathing.
