Eric POV

I blink staring at my phone
"You suffocate me"
I narrow my eyes, did she mean that?

I can't say am not hurt, no of course I am, and am angry too but I can't take that anger out on her, I would never do that, but is that what she thinks of me? Does my love suffocate her?

No woman has ever told me that before ever

My phone has been going on for the past 8 hours but I don't pick her call, the phone is specifically for her so I turn it off locking it in the drawer of my office.

I turn back to my work but her words continue to resonate in my ears.

A knock on my door pulls me pulls me out of my obsessive thinking

I look down at my clothes nervously, of course I'm at home and I can be comfortable I wear what I want, I was not expecting any guest and the maid won't knock and my siblings either

Quickly tucking myself under my table to hide my black t shirt and yoga pants I tell whoever is behind the door to come in

The door opens and Eleanor walks in, I narrow my eyes; wearing dark jeans and a simple sweater, she has never been one for jeans I scrunch up my face

Good evening Eleanor I try to send her a smile, why is she here so early in the morning?

Don't be so formal I know we are no longer in a relationship but there's no need to talk to me that way Eric she stands

Oh excuse my manners i jump in my seat, have a seat I muster up a smile, am not angry she's here, am just angry at Sophia for pushing me away with that sentence

Did I by chance ever suffocate you? I abruptly ask my ex

What? She frowns laughing slightly, what would give you that idea?

Just answer it please I fold my hands across the table

No, not at all, you're a good man, a great man in every aspect Eric, who gave you that silly notion that you suffocate-" wait oh her mouth pops open, Sophia? She frowns

I slump in my seat hearing her name, I could not sleep through out the rest of the night I had my head stuck in work thinking about the words

What happened? She speaks softly leaning forward grabbing my hands in her small ones

I quickly explain everything to her

She laughs softly, she's finding it hard to adjust that's all she shrugs, look she's a simple girl like you said, ease up on her, take her to the places you took her to when it was just Sophia and Alex not Sophia and Eric, then sometimes spoil her.

I can't say I know what she's thinking, I'm not a simple girl like her, you of all people know that, but I am a woman, she did not literally mean you suffocate her, you should not worry she shrugs

You're never mad at her, and you are always doing the apologizing, leave your phone off for the rest of the day, tomorrow talk to her, make her sweat a bit, let her work for you okay?

But what if-"

I swear if you don't do as I say I'll take away your phone till she gets back she warns me

I nod settling in my seat, so I need to turn my notch down a bit, that means the trip to Spain should be cancelled till further notice or the trip to Greece, I was looking forward to that one.

What are you doing here so early anyway it's 7am I ask her

Oh that, am waiting for James, he's taking me roller skating I've not done that since I was 16, she shrugs
