[24. I Don't Care]

Midoryia's POV

"There's only one week left until the final exams. You're all studying properly, right?" Aizawa said

"But it won't just be a written exam. There's also a practical component. Make sure you train your minds and your bodies at the same time. That's all"

Everyone who had a low place started to panic besides Nova, she was the lowest out of everyone here. It didn't make sense because she's insanely smart.

A few people went to ask Momo for help but she was worried mostly about someone else, we all were. For the past week, not a word came from Nova, it was like she was in a deep thought.

"Nova, would you like to join us?" Momo asked, Nova shook her head and pointed at Bakugou and Kirishima "Oh, okay." Nova started to get up but I decided to walk over to her "Nova, are you okay?" I asked "Fine." She mumbled and walked out of the classroom.

"She'll come around eventually." Kirishima said "You've known her for a long time, how long is eventually?" Bakugou asked, surprisingly he was worried too "A month maybe two or three. This isn't something she'll ever get over, I mean it was Todoroki." Kirishima said "Her mom is behind it, Nova won't let that by. Her mom could give her the worst nightmare and Nova wouldn't care since she's so used to it but losing Todoroki that way— she might want to kill her mom."

I looked over at Todoroki who was talking to Momo.

"We need to find a way to get his memory back." I said

Nova's POV

Someone hit Deku's head and when I looked at who did I instantly remembered him. From the Sports Festival, the dude who can copy quirks for a short time.

"Oh, sorry. Your head was so big that I accidentally hit it." Deku looked up at the blonde idiot "You're from Class B... um.. MONAMA!" Deku said "Heard you guys met the hero killer. Just like the sports festival, you guys in Class A just have to have all the attention, huh?" I glared at him.

"But that attention isn't because people have high hopes for you. It's because you keep attracting trouble, right?"

"Oh that's scary," this guy doesn't shit up, does he? "Someday, the rest of us might also be caught up in the trouble you bring and become victims as well... Like getting cursed by the god of pestilence! Oh, that's sca-"

Kendo hit him in the head and he fell to the ground. "Monoma, that's not funny. Don't you know what happened to Iida and Aoki?"

"Kendo!" Iida said "Sorry, Class A. The guy's heart's just kinda, you know." His heart? I asked myself "You guys were talking earlier about how you don't know what's gonna be on the practical exam for the finals, right?" Me and Deku nodded "Looks like it'll be combat against robots like in the entrance exam."

"What? Really?!" Midoryia said, he was just as surprised as the rest of us "How did you know?" Iida asked "An upperclassman friend of mine told me. It's kinda cheating, though." She said "No, it's not cheating." Deku began to mutter random things and I looked up at Kendo "Make sure when he wakes up to tell him to mind his own business, and if he really wanted all the attention maybe he should cause another scene like he did today." She nodded "Noted."

"Aoki, can I speak with you?" I turned around and nodded for everyone to head to class already "Aizawa, what is it?" I asked "I saw your midterm exam, you didn't even try to get a good score. Your tests were never filled in, some didn't even have your name. So, tell me. Are you going to keep turning in your homework the same as well?" I shrugged "I honestly don't care at the moment about the exams, I just want to find my mother and find a cure for Shoto. The studying is a waste of time when I could be looking for clues."

Aizawa scoffed "Do you want to be suspended?" I shrugged "Do it, I could care less what happens to me right now." I started to walk away "I'm sorry about Shoto but this is your future, pros look at these things. You do nothing and it will hurt your hero career."

"Like I said, don't care!"

No ones POV

Aizawa sighed, he was worried about his number one student. Nova is smart and tough. Aizawa looked down at her tests and all answers were marked with wrong answers and some not even bubbled in.

He knew they all should be looking for Kina Aoki: Nova's Mother, but the school insisted to start the exams.

"Nezu, I was wondering if Nova Aoki could retake the midterm exam. I know it's a lot to ask but, she didn't even try, she doesn't want to."

"Aizawa, if the girl doesn't want to do it, she won't. It's hard to change her mind." Nezu said "She's broken, over time her heart will heal but she will just be behind everyone else a bit."

"That wasn't the answer I wanted." Aizawa said "Well, it's the answer you're going to get. She will take the final exam and practical exam."

Nova walked into her and her dad's apartment, he was still working, of course, he's a doctor. She sat down on her bed and looked over at her bedside table, the picture of her and Shoto from their first date in a frame, she picked it up and a tear fell down on the picture. She can't stand the feeling of looking at him now, the pain, it was worse then the physical and mental pain she went through when she was 8. She'd never loved someone this much, she didn't ever think someone would love her. She always thought she'd be 'freak' or 'monster' to people, but then she met Shoto, he understood her. The scars, pain, he knew how it felt to be called those names. He knew the feeling of being seen as a weapon.

"My father, he has done so much to me, the training was hard, it still is. He pushed me over and over again, points where I'd pass out from the exhaustion." I looked over to him "This scar, my mother poured boiling hot water on my face because it reminded her of my father. I don't hate her for it but, I'm scared she'll hate the man I've become."

"Is it weird to still have hope that my mom is in there somewhere, the loving and kind woman I knew?" He shook his head "You're hopeful, it's a good thing." I smiled and he smiled a little too "You're really brave, Todoroki." "Thank you, and you're brave too."

I put the picture back and wiped my eyes, my phone started ringing. It was Kirishima.

"Hey, Nova. When do you want to study? Bakugou is insisting tomorrow since it's the weekend but I wanted to ask you first." I chuckled "Yeah, tomorrow is fine. I need to get out of the house instead of just going to school anyway." "Awesome! I'll text you where we'll meet up. Call me if you need to talk to someone." "I will, thank you, Kiri."

The next update will be an AU I've been working on for a few weeks, then I'll start working on regular chapters.
