The past few weeks has not gone well. Nothing has gone your way. Nada, zip, fuck all. Firstly, the reason why Boopkins was in that well, was because Bob had pushed him down it and THEN save him to promote his rap career. Next he purposely had you and the others to burn his mansion down, then during his diss track, he said hurtful things about your friends and girlfriend. He got his just deserts, and after a while and a near death experience, he was forgiven.
Then during one of Mario's stupid ideas, Peach had all anime banned from the kingdom. Saiko, being from a Japanese dating sim, sent herself back to Japan, leaving a very upset Luigi. Axol's Inkweaver pen was also stolen from him a few day's prior.
Meggy was stressing over the upcoming Splatfest. Mario, in his stupidity again began trafficking illegal anime merchandise for the Anime Cartel, and lost it all having a debt on his head. And you STILL didn't have an idea to get inside of Shido's castle.
Speaking of Phantom Thief stuff, Mementos is STILL seeping into your world at an alarming rate, as if NOTHING you have done meant ANYTHING! At least now you were able to summon your Persona for a longer time now. But right now, the worst of all.
Meggy was gone.
She went missing, along with half the citizens of Inkopolis.
This was brought up to you as a news broadcast from Inkopolis from only Callie, one of Meggy's friends and a member of the Idol group the Squid Sisters, had told all Inklings and Octolings to stay inside, as there having been disappearances.
Fearing the worst, you and the others headed towards Meggy's house in Inkopolis, as she went back to visit some friends. You met up with Akechi and Desti. With you and Akechi being close friends now, Desti decided to get to know Meggy more, and soon a friendly rivalry, and friendship sparked between the two. Indeed her house was ransacked and she was no where to be found. The only thing being her Splattershot.
Akechi: Hey, I found something!
You run over to see Akechi holding a a copy of the Naruto Manga series.
Y/n: What? But Meggy doesn't like anime, why would it be here?
Axol: Hmm, I may have an idea. He was a student at my academy, but was kicked out due to his obsession with anime. Plus, he knew about the power of Inkweaver. I heard he started up some Cartel when the anime ban was put in place.
Mario: So you think it was Francis?
Axol: It is a possibility.
Akechi: I'll see if I can scan this for any fingerprints.
Y/n: I'll come with you, besides I need to show you something.
Axol: And I'll start looking for Francis.
SMG4: Saiko, Bob, Boopkins and I will find some more help. Mario, Desti, Luigi, and Tari go with Axol.
Everyone: Right!

Meggy wakes up and as she tries to stand up, she is held down by a chain. She looks around, confused and scared.
Meggy: Where am I? Hey! Is anyone out there?
All of a sudden someone came through the door.
Meggy: You?! Did you kidnap me?!
The figure said nothing, but dropped a tray of food and left.
Meggy: Hey! Get back here!.... Y/n... where are you?

As Axol and his team were walking around the square for any clues the remaining Inklings were hiding from the group. Mario tried to talk to some people but was only met with hostility.
