Valen's POV
---

The apartment is completely fucking trashed, there is not a single piece of furniture that hasn't been destroyed in the wake of my sanity challenged mother and highly territorial father.  Straightening up from my bent over position with shards of glass positioned precariously in the shovel, I turn to my right tipping them into the large trash bin, using the brush to ensure all the tiny bits get in there too.

I pause to look around the room taking in the people in the apartment who are helping me to clean the place up, I watch as my father walks over to pick up the book shelf, only to have it snap and crumble dangerously around him, the heavy slabs of wood bouncing painfully on top of Storm and River, who are bending over picking up all my precious books, nick knacks and photos, causing them to yell out in consternation, while simultaneously gifting me with amusement.  I chuckle quietly watching as they gingerly pick themselves up off the floor while grumbling at my apologetic dad.

Aunty Liz and Uncle Tom are in the kitchen cleaning the broken mugs and sweeping the floors, both with angry scowls and sadness in their eyes, looking up at me Aunty Liz offers me a sad but resigned smile and makes her way over to Storm and River, hopping over bits of fallen debris, as I eye the others who have joined our cleaning crew.

Mikaera and Hope are over in a corner of the dining area talking in hushed whispers, curiously Mikaera's face is a little frustrated while Hope is looking distant and closed off.  I wonder what's going on over there, I think to myself as I eye them a little bit longer.

Jared, Brody and Blake are in my bedroom, picking up my belongings from the ground, fury evident in the tension of their shoulders and facial expressions; I'm unsure if they're angry about being roped into clean up duty or over the events of this evening.

Kaiah and Kara are nowhere to be seen, so I'm assuming they're down the hall somewhere cleaning the mess in that area...how it even got down there I will never know.

Tiernan, my treacherous, lying pack of shit ex-mate, is not far from where I am standing helping Biana, my equally treacherous lying pack of shit, cousin pick up the remnants of my favourite three seater couch.  If this place didn't belong to her family, I have no doubt in my mind that she would have kicked a bitch fit and left us to it, taking Tiernan with her, and if I'm being honest, I am seriously hoping that she would just do it so I don't have to watch them working together.

I feel someone sidle up to me from behind, "Thanks for staying to help, Bas." I turn my head towards him and smile, "Although, I'm not sure what you can really do considering it looks like we have everything covered."

His beautiful face cracks into one of his earth shattering smirks before he leans in and kisses the side of my head and replies in his sexy, deep voice, "I didn't stay to help, Angel."

"Oh" my face heats up in embarrassment, well of course he wouldn't stay to help clean up he's a super old and super sexy Vampire Guardian, who didn't even make the mess in the first place.  I intend to move my head back around so he doesn't see the stupid that's written all over my face.

He leans down by my ear as he whispers seductively, "I stayed so I can be closer to you for a little bit longer"

My eyes widen before looking up to connect my eyes with his eerie silver, blue gaze, "Oh" I squeak unflatteringly, my already warm cheeks burning dangerously hot.

Sebastian shifts his intense gaze in the direction of my ex mate, "Don't show him you are hurting, or any weakness.  You are not the same girl he knew when you left, you are stronger."

I lift an eyebrow, my doubt in his words clearly written all over my face.

He glances back at me while touching a hand to the base of my back, "You doubt me?"
