Child of Ares°°°
You didn't know how you ended up outside in the snow but it had something to do with Piper McLean.
Ever since you met her, there was always something that dragged you towards her. You didn't know why you had an urge to be around her. Clarisse, your older sister, told you that maybe it was because the children of Ares and Aphrodite had a connection with each other.
You didn't ask Clarisse to go more in depth of her logic. You were there when Silena was at camp and you didn't want to be the one that made Clarisse cry.
Piper had shown up at your cabin door at around noon and demanded you to come out.
The rest of your siblings in the cabin watched you for your reaction. You hated being cold and refused to go out when it wasn't necessary. They were waiting for you to tell Piper to get lost. Instead, you slowly put on your winter things and went outside.
"Is Y/n okay?" Sherman asked Clarisse, who hadn't looked up from her book.
"McLean has that affect on Y/n. Haven't you noticed that by now?" She simply responded.
If Sherman were to actually use his brain for once, he'd notice the changes in your actions lately.
You had started eating less meat, which surprised almost everyone at the Ares table. You seemed to be more happy and even muttered quick comebacks which the campers hadn't heard since before the war. You were slowly becoming the person you were before the war had started.
Piper was someone you enjoyed being around. She seemed like she had little care in the world though another war was slowly approaching.
"When do you guys leave?" You asked Piper, holding your mug of hot chocolate tightly in your hands.
Piper thought about this for a moment. They had gotten back a bit ago from their quest to save Hera and Piper had little information of the next one.
"I really don't know," Piper said, pausing to take a sip of her own hot chocolate. "Whenever the boat is built I guess."
She had changed the subject quickly which did concern you slightly. Piper, when she was comfortable with a person, could talk about any subject for lengths of time but whenever someone brought up her last or the new quest, she shut right down.
After walking Piper back to her snow covered cabin, you took a different route and walked to the newly found Bunker.
"Hey Valdez?" You called out, trying to find the small boy somewhere in the huge room.
Leo came into sight, covered in some liquid you didn't want to know about. "What are you doing here Y/n? Don't you hate the cold?"
You ignored his last comment and took off your gloves and coat. You rolled up your sleeves to your shirt and looked Leo in the eyes.
"I want to help."
°°°
Piper was at the Ares cabin for what felt like the millionth time this week. She went to knock on the door when it swung open.
"Y/n isn't here," Clarisse said, looking down at Piper, who was frowning slightly.
"Do you happen to know where Y/n is?" Piper asked. Ever since that one day a couple months back, you had become a bit more distant to not just Piper, but to everyone else.
Clarisse shrugged. "Have you checked the Bunker yet?"
Clarisse closed the door and Piper turned around to start her walk towards the Bunker. She didn't have any idea why she was going there. You had no reason to be there but something in her brain kept telling her that that was the place to be.
