You laid under the tree, the leaves casting a shadow over your body. You took out your phone from your pocket, clicking on the most recent contact shown.

"Jason?" You said, once he had picked up. Your head was hurting but that could wait until you were done talking to your partner.

"Hey Honey," Jason responded, setting down his sword as he took a break from sparring. "You still out?"

You were currently out on a mission with two other demigods. They were new to camp and had to bring a more experienced demigod with them so you volunteered. Oh how you would regret that.

"Yeah, yeah," You said, turning your phone away from your mouth as you coughed loudly. Something wet came out, landing on the grass beside you. You didn't look at it, you already knew what it was.

"You good there Y/n?" Jason asked, his voice going deep as his father-like voice emerged from within. "Are the children looking after you?"

You laughed slightly, not too much as it pained your side to do so. He said children as if they weren't only 4 years younger then you currently were.

"Yeah, yeah. They're out getting firewood," You responded as if you hadn't sent them running for camp ten minutes ago.

Jason sighed, freeing himself from the worry he was originally feeling. He knew you were alright, that you would be coming back to him soon.

"When are you coming home?" He asked, looking down at the watch that had been an anniversary gift from you almost 2 years ago.

"Ah," You sighed, watching as the sun started its descent from the sky. You could only wish that Apollo or some other god was watching, letting you live just a little longer so you could at least say goodbye.

"Hey Jason?" You said, hoping he was still on the other side after a few seconds of silence. You got confirmation of his presence when he hummed almost tiredly into the phone. "Are you watching the sunset right now?"

"Yeah, it reminds me of our first date," He said back as the memories crossed her mind.

"Let's watch it together. For old times sake," You said softly, the energy pouring out of you as well as the blood from your side. Gold dust blew around with every passing breeze, dancing in the distance as if mocking you in some way.

"When you get back, we're watching the sunset together in person so we can end the day right." Jason didn't realize that the next time you two would be together was at your funeral the next day.

"I'd like that. It would be a perfect ending."
