Caught

Jason’s POV:

What a day. First I forget the lyrics to my song for Cat and embarrass myself in front of her, and then Shawn flips on me for no real reason. I didn’t know what to do with myself. It was exhausting trying to avoid all contact with Cat or Shawn and I just wanted to talk to them and avoid the conflicts. Meeting the fans was fun, though. I got to see how supportive and helpful they were of me since I screwed up my performance. And Nash was there the whole time to keep my mind off it. After magcon ended I met up with Nash and Hayes and we went back to the hotel. Quinn came in for a little but I didn’t feel like talking about anything with her so we just hung out. She left around midnight to go to her room and Nash left then too to see what Cam was up to. Me and Hayes were currently just hanging in the hotel. Hayes checked his phone and his face suddenly lit up with excitement.

“Maddie wants to go out tonight! Like on a date! with ME!” he yelled at me.

“Hayzel! That’s awesome you have to go,” I replied.

“What are you gonna do all night?” Hayes asked worriedly.

“I’ll find something to do it is midnight after all. Maybe ill just rent a movie but don’t worry about me you have to go!”

“Okay thanks. If you need anything text me”

I smiled and walked back up to the room while Hayes bolted out the door to meet Maddie somewhere. I decided that I should call Cat to tell her how I felt. I walked alone to my room and sat down on my bed just staring at my phone. Just one call was all it takes. I chose to man up and call her. It rang for 2 rings until she answered.

“Hey Jason!”

“Hi Cat… Can we talk?”

“Yeah I’ve been meaning to call you… about today”

“I know Cat i’m so sorry I tried my best to learn a song for you and I worked so hard with Jack and Nash but I was so nervous an-”

“I loved it. I dont care that you messed up, it was so sweet!”

“You did?”

“Yes! you went through all that trouble for me how could I not?”

“Cat you’re making me so happy.”

“You make me happy too Jay. Oh um I have to go my dad is calling me. I’ll text you later tonight.”

“Okay! goodnight Cat,”

“Goodnight Jay!”

I hung up the phone and floated back down to my bed. I felt like I was on cloud 9. She wasn’t mad! I couldn’t believe she thought what I did was sweet. She was just perfect in every way. As soon as I put my phone down it vibrated again. I looked down to see Hayes calling me.

“Hayes, What’s up? Aren’t you with Maddie?” I asked.

“Yeah I am and things are good, but I saw something else, something bad.”

“What’s that?”

“Well… I saw Cat, with some guy. I don’t know for sure but things looked pretty flirty.”

“What do you mean she’s home with her parents”

“Jay I’m looking at her right now and she is most definitely not home.”

“She just talked to me on the phone saying she missed me and wanted to see me”

“Jay I’m really sorry”

I hung up the phone threw it at me bed. I kept punching and screaming at my pillow until I felt I was done with my tantrum. How could she lie to me? Maybe she really didn’t like the surprise and wanted nothing to do with me. Oh great, another dramatic day in New Jersey, big surprise. Just as I was about to fall asleep Jack G walked in. I guess my eyes were still teary because he glanced his eyebrow at me with concern.

“Everything okay Jay?” he asked.

“Well no… not really. It’s Cat.”

“What happened?”

“Well she called me tonight saying how much she likes and misses me but then a few seconds later I get a call from Hayes saying that she was hanging out with some other guy when she told me she was home with her parents.”

“Oh I see. Well do you know if she was flirting with this other guy because he could just be a friend, or hey maybe hes gay!”

I laughed for the first time that night. Jack always lightened the mood to the hardest situations. Then I responded to his question.

“Well Hayes didn’t know for sure if it was flirty or just friendly.”

“Then I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Unless she avoids you I think she still has a case of the Jasons” he smiled and winked at me.

“Thanks Jack, you always make me feel better.”

“Annnyttimme lad,” he said with a snobby voice.

“Oh god,” I laughed.

“OH! I almost forgot Nash wanted me to tell you everyones going to the Jersey Shore for the next two days so he wanted you to pack your suitcase.” Jack exclaimed.

“Really?!? I love it there my family used to go when I was little!”

“Yeah! He also said Hayes was gonna invite Maddie if you wanna invite Cat”

“I think I will,” I said with a wink.

“Smart thinking Jay, now do you wanna watch a movie?”

“Um yes”

“Okay we’re watching Frozen. No questions asked.”

“That’s exactly what I was thinking” I smirked.

We both laughed then popped in the movie. I needed to stop worrying about Cat. Besides, nothing says a first date like taking her to the Jersey Shore.
