They both stared at me, awaiting my answer. Chris and Jonah both glanced at each other before looking back at me. I opened my mouth to say something until they both busted out into laughter, snorting a bit as they covered their mouths to keep quiet.
"We were joking, your face though. Are we that scary?" I rolled my eyes at them, leaning back in my seat.
"No, I'm just terrible at rejecting people." Jonah feigned hurt, putting a hand over his heart.
"Damn, Avi, that hurt." Chris didn't say anything, clicking his pen over and over again.
"Why do you always wear sweatshirts?" I sighed, rubbing the bridge of my nose.
"Leave her alone, Jonah, she can wear whatever she wants." Chris started copying down the notes, highlighting key points while Jonah stared at me.
"Sorry... why do you though?" I took a deep breath, smiling a bit while Chris tossed me his highlighter.
"Because they're comfortable and I'm used to them. I just feel weird when I'm not wearing a sweatshirt. What about you? Why do you wear such ugly, bright colors?" Jonah glared at me before smiling as Chris chuckled.
"Because I like too and they're fun colors unlike emo here." I glanced at Chris to see him shaking his head.
"I'm not emo, I just don't have much variety. Plus, I look fucking good in these colors. Makes me look bad ass. I'm that bad boy every girl wants." I rolled my eyes, highlighting a few things and listened to them start to bicker about who was more "bad ass".
"Nah, if anyone is a bad boy, it's me. Bad boy's, bad boy's, watcha gonna do when they come for y-"
"You're stupid, shut up." Chris laughed out, kicking the back of Jonah's chair.
"I was in the middle of my fucking solo, ass wipe." I pursed my lips, staring at the both of them. This was going to be a long semester.
"Aviana, you decide, who's the bad boy here?" I bit my lip, putting the cap back on the highlighter.
I studied them both, noting their demeanor. Jonah wore a sweater that had a mix of bright color patterns on it and a goofy grin displayed on his face while he was sitting with perfect posture in a friendly, outgoing way.
I averted my gaze towards Chris who had on a plain white t-shirt with a black denim jacket on, the sleeves rolled up to his forearms. He had a serious expression making him look intimidating, but attractive at the same time. He was leaning back against the chair, his arms crossed over his chest and legs stretched out in front of him with a more laid back, don't-talk-to-me kind of way. Definitely Chris.
"I have to go with Chris, just the way he acts and looks. You, however, look like the friendly guy everyone wants to be friends with." Jonah cheered nonetheless while Chris eyed me for a second before shrugging and going back to his work.
For some odd reason I was drawn more towards Chris than I was to Jonah. There was just some sort of mystery about him. I shook my head, finishing up my notes. It doesn't matter whether I'm drawn to him or not, we have our own groups and I do not want to get involved with these two. Sure they were nice, but things can get messy and I don't want to risk anything right now.
"Aviana, there's a party tonight. You should come." I glanced up at Jonah to see him staring at me with a grin on his face.
"Um... I don't go to parties that often. It's not my thing." I nervously tapped my pen against my desk as Chris shifted next to me.
"Jonah's right, it would be fun. I would like to get to know you more, as a friend of course." I bit my lip, feeling my cheeks start to burn.
I was getting embarrassed for no damn reason. I hate boys. Why am I like this?
"I don't know..." Chris turned towards me, smiling brightly.
"We won't leave your side the entire time. You can even bring your friend." I sighed, giving in. They weren't going to budge. What's the worse that can happen? It's just a party.
"Okay, fine, but you're buying me McDonald's again." Chris shrugged, holding his hand out towards me.
I quickly shook it, looking back forward while tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, "Aviana, do I have to repeat myself for the third time?" I blinked, looking around the class to see everyone staring at me.
"Uh... sorry, what?" The teacher shook his head, calling someone else's name.
I played with the sleeves of my hoodie, sinking down into my seat while Chris poked me in the side and Jonah quickly faced forward.
"Hey, you don't have to be embarrassed. Everyone will forget about it in the next minute." I shook my head, clenching my jaw.
It didn't matter whether they forgot about it or not, I won't forget about it. Three years from now I'm going to look back on this moment and still be embarrassed.
Chris sighed, tapping his hand against his desk, "I definitely think Olaf is my favorite." I looked up at Chris as he said it loudly causing everyone to turn and look his way.
"What are you doing?" I muttered it and caught his smirk as he sat up in his chair.
"Olaf is fucking amazing." A few people started laughing and Jonah turned around, shaking his head.
"You got it wrong, Elsa is amazing. She's a bad ass. She can, like, move snow and shit." I started laughing along with the class, shaking my head at the two.
"She may be able to move snow but Olaf is snow. He's a talking snow man for crying out loud, he's got a carrot nose and everything." I bit my lip, looking towards the teacher as he stared at them in amusement.
"But who made him? Elsa did. I think that settles it." Chris snorted, leaning over the desk towards Jonah actually getting into the argument.
"Well, at least Olaf didn't cause a whole damn kingdom to be full of snow." This time I rolled my eyes, enjoying it while some people started cheering him on.
"At least Elsa won't fucking melt, he'll be a damn puddle." I covered my mouth to keep from laughing, glancing at the clock.
I started putting my things away while they continued to bicker about Elsa and Olaf, "For your information, Olaf has his own snow cloud so he wouldn't melt." Jonah went to retort but the bell rang, cutting him off.
I stood up, staring at Chris, "Thank you." He smiled back at me, giving me a small smile.
"The party is at Max's place. I'll text you the address unless you want me to pick you up?" I shook my head, picking my backpack up.
"It's fine, my number..." I grabbed his notebook and pen, scrawling my number on the page.
"I'll see you later. Bye, Jonah." Jonah gave me a small wave, glancing from me to Chris while Chris stared at my number.
"Yeah, we'll have fun tonight, Avi." I blushed, looking down at the ground before walking away.
A party. I've been to parties before, I'm sure I can handle this one.
