Tara held onto my arm, leaning in close, "So, you spent the day with Jonah yesterday?" I nodded, moving in line with the class.
I had no idea what we were doing today and if I'm being honest, I just want to go home and sleep.
"What did you and Jonah do yesterday?" She gripped my arm, excitement etched onto her features.
"He took me to his favorite spot and we talked." She pouted, and stopped when our class started entering the library.
Before I could walk in, she pulled me back, "Okay, Avi, I'm tired of waiting and I don't mean to rush you, but get your first kiss already. Whether it's Jonah or Chris, please kiss one of them." I didn't bother answering her and went to open the door to the library until the door was pushed open, hitting me in the head.
I fell back, landing on my ass as I heard rushed footsteps towards me, "Shit, I'm sorry, are you okay?" I groaned, rubbing my head while Tara went into a fit of laughter.
I looked up to see hazel eyes first then grunted when I saw curly brown hair and brown eyes. Of course it would be Jonah and Chris to hit me with a door.
"Yes... I hate you two." Jonah and Chris glanced at each other, still looking concerned.
"What's with you two always injuring me?" They grabbed my hands, pulling me up as Tara still continued to laugh.
"Damn, that's fucking hilarious... I'm going to be in the library." She stuttered out, shaking her head then walked into the library.
"Sorry, you sure you're okay?" I nodded, moving around the two boys.
"Aviana, there's another party this Friday, you should come." I blew out a breath, turning towards them as they said it simultaneously.
"That was just creepy." They chuckled, Chris moving to open the door for me.
"I'll ask Tara if she wants to go, the last one wasn't so bad." Chris gave me a knowing smile and I rolled my eyes before waving bye to both of them.
I walked into the library, spotting Tara sitting at one of the tables near the back. I quickly made my way over to her, smiling when she waved a book in the air.
"I got you a cheesy romance book." I sat down next to her, leaning my chin on my hand.
"You know me so well." She flipped her hair dramatically, blowing me a kiss.
"I know, anyway, what were you talking about with J&C?" I grabbed the book she had got me, scanning the pages.
"Uh... something about a party on Friday night. I'm not really into love triangles, this book sounds depressing a-"
"No one cares! What about the party?" I refrained from rolling my eyes at her and closed the book.
"They just said I should come to the party. I said I'd ask you if you wanted to go first." She did a little dance, cheering a bit.
"Of course I want to go, it's going to be so much fun." She shook my arm, excitement bubbling up in her.
"Maybe... don't get drunk this time. I don't want to have to drag your heavy ass up a flight of stairs again." I flinched when she pinched my arm, and I smacked her hand away.
"You're mean, Tara, literally a bully." She gave me an innocent look, showing me the book she had picked out for me.
"No, I'm not, and this book seems good even if it's a love triangle. I bet you'll like it." I looked at the book again, admiring the cover.
"Well, to be fair, the description of the book says the main character basically cheats on her boyfriend with his best friend when he's away. I think we all know the outcome." Tara pinched me again and I moved away from her, narrowing my eyes.
"Yeah, but, don't you want to read it to find out why she cheats? Or why her boyfriend is away?" I looked at the book again, debating whether or not if I should check it out.
"Fine, why not? Love triangles can be interesting, but also heartbreaking." She nodded, and I glanced at the book she had.
"What's that one about?" A smirk lit up her features as she stood up.
"The second book to that one. Trust me, you're going to love it." I stood up as well, now understanding why she wanted me to read it. She read it before me and now she obviously has a lot to say about it and wants to make sure I know what she's talking about.
"You know, Tara, this is odd. You're not a reader." She shushed me, hitting the side of my head with the book in her hand as we walked up to check out the books.
"I actually liked this one, I like love triangles. So much drama. The main character is so indecisive, seriously, I want to slap her sometimes." I took a cautious step away from her while she threw her hands up in annoyance.
"You scare me sometimes." She threw her arm around my shoulders, smiling brightly.
"Good, by the way, throughout the whole book I rooted for the best friend. A damn shame she kept breaking his heart. Damn, that book got to me." She over dramatically wiped away a fake tear, placing the book on the counter in front of the librarian.
"Oh, by the way, I'm not going to be here during lunch. My mom is picking me up to take me to the dentist." I groaned, not wanting to be alone during lunch.
The librarian scanned the book and handed it back to her while I continued to pout, "Tara, I'm socially awkward." I whined, placing the book on the counter so the librarian could scan it.
I punched in my ID number as Tara patted my back in comfort, "Hm... what are you to do? Oh, maybe Chris and Jonah could keep you company." She bumped her hip against mine as the librarian handed me the book.
"I don't like eating in front of people." She rolled her eyes, pulling me after her as our class started heading out of the library.
"It's fine, Avi, there's no need to be awkward or self conscious in front of two hot guys." I paused, staring her down.
"Oh my gosh, Tara, did you tell them you weren't going to be here during lunch?" There was a mischievous glint in her eyes as she pushed the door open.
"Maybe... maybe not, just so you know, you can't hideout in the library anymore." I glared at her, not prepared for lunch.
Sometimes I love Tara, other times I want to strangle her because she has certain tendencies to try to get me to talk and make new friends. Every one of those times failed, which is probably what's going to happen during lunch since it's obvious she planned something. I am definitely not prepared.
