"I'm so sorry for scarring your little five year old self." Chris and Jonah busted out into laughter while Jonah's mom apologized to me about the day they had hit me with a snowball.
All I wanted to do right now was disappear or more accurately, die from embarrassment. I'm sure my face was bright red by now and I hated every moment of it.
"It's fine, thanks for the cupcake though." Jonah's father laughed, setting his fork down on the plate.
"I told her not to do that because it would freak you out. She did it anyway." I smiled, leaning back against the chair.
Jonah chuckled, casually draping his arm around the back of my chair. Chris noticed, his expression hardening for a second before glancing at Mrs. Morrison as she stood up to grab the plates.
I started to stand too, motioning towards the table, "I can help clean up." She smiled, giving me a small nod and I grabbed the remaining plates.
I followed her into the kitchen, glancing back to see Chris picking up the cups then rolled my eyes when Jonah and him both reached for the same cup. They're so fucking childish at times.
Placing the dishes in the sink, Mrs. Morrison turned towards me with a small smile, "So, are you and my son dating?" I shook my head, putting the plates I was holding into the sink.
"That's a damn shame, I actually liked you. What about you and Chris? If I can't win with my own son, then maybe his best friend." She leaned against the counter as I laughed, nervously fixing the strap of my dress.
"Uh... no, I'm not dating either of them. We're all just friends." Sighing, she walked towards the kitchen island and took the lid off the brownies I made.
"Well, if something happens in the future. Date either one, doesn't matter since Jonah is my son and Chris is like a son. I'd win either way." My eyes slightly widened and I just stared at her, not knowing what to say.
"Have you known Chris since he was little?" She grabbed a brownie from the container, glancing up at me.
"I've known him since he was a baby. I've been friends with his mother, Bianca, since middle school." I smiled, enjoying that little fact.
She took a bite of the brownie just as Chris walked in holding the cups. He put them in the sink then rolled up the sleeves of his shirt up to his elbows.
"Chris, you don't have to wash the dishes." He glanced back, a small smile playing on his lips.
"You invited me over for dinner, it's the least I could do." She stared at him fondly then looked back at me.
"Aviana, these brownies you made are amazing. Please, please, please date one of the boys. I'll be your mother-in-law either way." Chris chuckled, turning to look at us.
"Come on, Mrs. Morrison, you know my mom would be quick to take that title and she won't share." She scoffed, grabbing another brownie.
"Oh, please, you know damn well I'll be the second mother-in-law." I chuckled a bit, grabbing a brownie myself.
"You know what, I'll leave the second mother-in-law discussion up to you and my mom." He scrubbed one of the plates, occasionally glancing over his shoulder.
Mrs. Morrison smiled, gently wrapping her arm around me and pulled me in close for a side hug, "It's really late, you can stay the night if your parents let you. Same goes for you, Chris." I quickly chewed, wishing she hadn't spoke at the same time I chose to take a bite of the brownie.
"I'll call them and ask." She nodded and walked out of the kitchen.
I finished the brownie then took out my phone from the dress pocket so I could call my mom. I don't think she'd mind if I stayed the night since she liked Jonah and plus, his parents were here too. However, if they weren't here then it would definitely be a no.
My mom immediately picked up, a cheery tone in her voice, "Aviana, you want me to come pick you up now?" I leaned against the kitchen island, staring at the back of Chris while he washed the dishes.
"No, um... is it okay if I stay the night since it's late? Jonah's mom said I could if it's okay with you." It was quiet on her end and she either was going to yell at me, saying no or she just might say yes.
"Sure, since his parents are home, but if they weren't then that would be another story." I heard the warning in her voice and I laughed, rolling my eyes.
"I know, and I won't do anything." I heard her telling my dad that I was staying over in the background and smiled when I heard him yell that he loves me, but also said not to be stupid.
"You heard him, Aviana. I'll see you tomorrow, goodnight and I love you." I said it back then ended the call just as Chris finished with the dishes.
"Staying the night?" I nodded, stifling a yawn.
"Cool, me too. My mom never really cares since she knows and trusts Jonah's parents." He walked towards me, closing the distance between us.
"You look really pretty tonight, I've never seen you in a dress before." I held in my laugh, playfully shoving at his chest.
"Thanks, but this will be the only time you'll see me wearing a dress." Jonah walked in and Chris immediately put space between us.
"Are you staying over?" He walked up to me, keeping his distance.
"Yeah, my mom said I could." There was a small smile that formed on his face and he grabbed my hand, pulling me after him.
"I'll get you something to wear and take you to the guest room." I followed after him, smiling a bit.
I was honestly exhausted and just wanted to sleep right now so hopefully I'll get to do that after he gives me something to wear.

"Here you go." Jonah handed me a shirt of his then a new toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste.
"So, you just randomly have an extra toothbrush and toothpaste?" He rolled his eyes, biting back a smile.
"Yes, my mom usually buys things in packs. Come on, I'll take you to the guest room now." I followed him out of his room and down the hall towards a room which I remembered Tara had slept the night after the party.
He opened the door for me and I walked in, admiring the room like it was the first time I've been in there. "Thanks, Jonah, I'll see you tomorrow morning." I turned around only to see him standing closer to me than I thought he was.
"I'm glad you came tonight." I offered him a smile, staring into his brown eyes.
"Me too, I had a great time." My breathing hitched as he cupped my cheek, a longing gaze in his eyes.
Before I could say anything else, he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine. I hesitatingly kissed him back then pulled away, feeling blush creep up to my cheeks.
"Goodnight, Avi." He walked out, closing the door behind him.
I let out a breath, sitting down on the bed. Maybe I shouldn't have kissed him back because now I'm way more confused than ever. And the other problem is that I liked it.
