A new way of life.....

Sasha entered a small office in downtown Providence, the bell on the door chimed as she closed it, "May I help you?" The receptionist looked up at her, "Yes, Addison, uh, Sasha," She stuttered. "I'll get Mr. Metcalf for you," She picked up the phone he immediately came from his office. "Ms. Addison," He kindly spoke extending his hand to her. "Please, Sasha," She smiled feeling a little more comfortable. "Robert," He nodded, "ll get the keys," He remarked, pushing his black horned rimmed glasses from the bridge of his nose. "Did you get a chance to look at those properties I sent you?" His green eyes gleamed as he asked, "I have, Garret's Village, I've never heard of it," He smiled as they drove down a narrow side street. "It's a bedroom farming community not far from Providence, many families settled there and most today use it as an escape," He added they began to leave the City.

They traveled through the small village, a row of shops, bistros and a general store flanked the main street. Spring flowers hung in baskets from the historic light poles, people bustled down both sides of the street, a traffic light flashed. "They even have a hospital" Sasha murmured in a notion, "They do, it's small, but as I said many people have escaped the City for the quieter life, you'll love this place," He smiled driving on through town, "I have this one particular place in mind, the old Collins farm," He turned down a two lane asphalt road, rows of apple orchards and corn fields aligned it. "Trees!" Sasha exclaimed, "The Collins have long since been dead, the property was vacant for years, a young couple bought it and began repairs," He rambled as they pulled into the front driveway. "What happened?" She asked before they exited the car, "Not really sure, divorce I think, the wife is anxious to sell," He replied opening the car door.

Sasha stood in front of the car gazing up at a century old clad board farm house. The roof was green with ornamental patterns, the walls a stark white, paint peeled from the corners, the front  porch in disarray. The windows were arch shaped and old, "This a project," She stated, Robert clasped the manifest in one hand, the keys to the place in the other. "Lets go inside," He turned the key to the door opening it up to a grand living area with a fire place, "Cozy," Sasha commented looking around. "As you can see some repairs have been done," They walked to the kitchen, the wall removed opening it to the living room, "I love it already," She smiled. "I felt you would," They ventured through the house, a master bedroom down stairs a bath and two guest rooms upstairs.

They moved to the covered back porch that overlooked a small whitewashed barn,"There were several head of cattle kept here, the ground is fertile and right for a large garden," He explained walking towards the barn, "Oh, a creek," Sasha became delighted, the water slowly rolled the sandy bottom clear and inviting. "Yes, willow run, the farm is named the same, it's five acres, small I know, but the right price," He insisted. Are those apple trees?" Sasha inquired, "Yes, however nothing has been farmed here in years, it would take a lot to bring it back to the life it once had," Robert remarked tucking the manifest under his arm. "Come we have more to look at," They drove away.

Robert and Sasha pulled up to a cafe on the edge of town, "Mulligan's," Sasha laughed, "Now that's original," They got out, Robert clutched the doorknob, "You'd be surprised," He chuckled taking a table in the corner, "Coffee?" The waitress asked, "Yes," Sasha replied looking around, Robert opened his notebook, "What do you think?" He eyed her, She sighed, "Willow run," She was quick with her response. The waitress brought her a hot cup, "Thank you," Robert pursed his lips, "Cash offer I assume?" Sasha nodded, "I'd like to make an offer," He scribbled numbers as she conversed them further to him. "I'll see what I can do," He looked back up to her and briefly thought, "Do you think you'll be happy? I mean, the kind of lifestyle you've led, this is a quiet, tight knit community, with little to do" He reminded her.

Sasha place her chin on top of her fist, "I've lived the fast life you could say, my career is what it is, I've worked hard," He raised his hand with a grin, "No doubt you have, maybe quiet is what you need, you'll make new friends here and at least your close to Providence, the shore isn't too far and of course neither is New York," Sasha was elated finally a chance to do something successfully for herself. Robert drove her back to the city, "As soon as I get a response, I'll call you," He showed her back to her car. "Thank you," She shook his hand departing the drive back to New York would be long but rewarding.
