"Clary?" Jace stroked Clary's vibrant red hair endearingly. Clary tightened her hug and buried her head in his neck, breathing in his scent.
The sound of someone clearing their throat got the attention of the two reunited lovers and they separated.
Magnus cocked an eyebrow and nodded at Clary, motioning for her to start telling her story. And she did.
". . . He showed me what happened to the institute. I, of course, asked him what he did. He told me he had 'opened the gates of Heaven'. "
Magnus interrupted her. "I know what that means." He stood up and went to one of the many bookcases in his apartment and searched for a book. He grabbed and opened it, skipping many pages until he found the correct one.
"Here it says that Heaven has a kind of prison, it is rumored to be even crueler than the ones in the deepest pits of Edom. The creatures trapped inside slowly transition into monsters, while their sanity gets thinner and thinner with the second. Once fully transitioned, golden chains wrap around their pink, scarred bodies, making them invincible for almost everything. Their weaknesses are not known."
"Well, Jace and I know one of their weaknesses," Izzy confessed.
Jace nodded in confirmation. "Releasing massive amounts of Angelic energy at once obliterated the creatures, but also blew up the institute." He looked down in shame of what he had done. He killed fellow Shadowhunters.
Clary placed her hand on his, silently consoling him. If he and Izzy didn't blow up the institute. . . The Angel knows what happened. It was necessary.
"And what are these creatures called?" Clary questioned while looking at Magnus.
"They are Spiritfoots." The rest looked confused at him. It's a strange name for such powerful creatures.
Magnus saw their confused faces and started explaining.
"Their minds are destroyed when they transform, and well. . . I don't have an explanation for the foot part." He chuckled.
They all cracked a smile at their friend.
"Wait. . . What month is it?" Clary suddenly asked.
"December, why?" Jace said, completely oblivious.
"You really haven't learned anything, do you?" Clary looked a bit offended.
"What should I learn?" Jace asked, still out of the loop.
"It's almost Christmas!" she shouts while standing up and dramatically motioning with her arms.
Sorry for the short chapter. My exams started again, so I don't have time to write. Like last year, I will do the special Christmas chapter. It's unbelievable tho, I have been writing for a year!
