Xcellence sighed softly as he walked into work with Dust.
She had noticed his... Odd behavior lately... And she didn't really like it.
"I know what you are." She whispered, loud enough for only him to hear her. To be fair, they were the only ones in that hallway.
He frowned, looking toward his roommate in confusion.
She looked up at him, lightly narrowing her eyes.
"Solar Eclipse." She muttered, stopping in the dead hallway near the lockers.
Xcellence froze, turning to her with a rather stern expression. He wasn't told that there were others in the city... The only one that was unknown was Azure, but that was because he no longer was in their database.
"You're a Great One, aren't you?" He whispered.
Dust sighed, crossing her arms while she nodded.
"Yeah... Going to turn me in? Kill me?" Her lips pulled into a sneer, her eyes shifting.
X didn't say a word, thinking.
She knew he was, by the fact his eyes hadn't shifted to his glowing ones. They were still human... Ish.
"You're not with the King, why should I kill you?" It was his turn to cross his arms.
The Great One looked surprised, their eyes naturally going back to human.
"You're... Not?"
The white haired boy sighed, shaking his head.
"I've been your roommate for nearly two years. You haven't tried to conform me to the King's will, nor have you attacked me even after I..." He shrugged. "I became an Eclipse. Besides, you're not causing unnecessary trouble for people."
Dust chuckled, relaxing.
"Yeah... Thanks, I guess..." She turned to go to the female changing rooms.
"Though, I suggest you tell Mr. Azure." She gave him a confused look. "He's an ex. He'll find out soon enough."
The Great One felt her heart drop at thought of her new boss being one of the people that would hunt her people... Though, to be fair, they weren't really that great... Literally feeding off of humans' fears and bodies... It... It wasn't exactly something she was proud of.
Taking a deep breath, she detoured towards her boss's office. She surprisingly hadn't been in there since Berry had taken it... He didn't often have to write people up, and he was a rather none-perverted boss for once! But... He did have a weird aura about him.
Guess being an ex-fighter for the Organization would make sense...
Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the wooden door. Some paper shuffling came through the door, then a muffled come in.
Steeling her nerves, she opened the door.
The pudgy man was sitting at a cluttered desk, a beaded necklace hanging behind him. He looked up at the quietness of someone still standing in the doorway.
A bright smile, almost brighter than his usual ones, appeared on his face.
"Dust Velden! What brings you to my office?" He tilted his head cutely, somewhat relaxing the nervous Beast.
"I..." Slowly she entered, her throat closing up as she pushed the door closed behind her. " I came here to tell you... Tell you..."
"That you're a Great One?" His remark made her look up, her mouth open and eyes wide with fear. "Oh, I knew the second I saw you!" His smile softened. "I just didn't find any reason to say anything about it since you seemed to have been trying to fit into human life."
He stood up, reaching behind him towards the beads... Beads that were enchanted to hurt Beasts by touch...
Instead of putting it on, Berry opened a drawer in his desk and placed them there.
"There, does that make you feel a little safer?" His smile had completely fallen into a concerned frown. "You really have nothing to be afraid of, Great One," he sat down again, "I haven't told anyone at the Organization about you. I don't plan to unless you prove yourself a threat or you want me to contact them." He took a deep breath, motioning with his hand to the chair across from him. "Questions are running in that head of yours... Might as well get comfortable."
Dust looked at the chair for a second before hurrying over to it.
The two sat in silence for a minute. Then she spoke up.
"Why did you come to work here?"
The fighter gave a soft smile.
"It was actually one of my first jobs before becoming a fighter. That, and I wasn't really expecting an Eclipse and a Great One to be working under me."
Made sense.
"Why do you have the beads? I thought the Organization took the weapons they give you..."
"No," He paused, tilting his head up as though trying to think of the right words. "They take weapons like swords, daggers, spears, guns, etc. Things that can hurt both humans and Beasts. Things like beads, scripters, staffs or even charms are rather harmless to humans, if not leave a little bruising."
That also made sense.
"What were you called when you were a fighter?"
Now that was a loaded question. A Beast, even an outsider one, know who they're up against by name... Meaning they know how much trouble they're in by the fighter's name.
"I was named Blueberry, some of you Beast called me the Blue Knight."
Dust paled, her breathing becoming slightly heavy.
Blue Knight... He was one of the reasons why she went into hiding... They said that he was a dangerous monster... A fiend that could kill anyone and thing without a second thought... That held no mercy for Beasts of any kind...
"I'm retired, I don't attack." He whispered, looking down at his hands. "I'm not the Blue Knight anymore." He took a deep breath before releasing it. "Why don't you start your shift? You're about five minutes late..."
Dust nodded, leaving the room quickly.
Life just got a lot more complicated...
