~ A Brothers' Intuition ~
"Denying the truth doesn't change the facts, it just makes you look foolish and blind"
~ Mark Z. JacobsonEaston
I shifted gears as I drove down the street that Reece's house sat upon, my gaze straight ahead while I quietly sat in thought.
I had always been the type of person to know what I wanted, and know how to get it, but lately I'd been feeling like I was no where close to knowing either of those things.
"Easton?"
My gaze snapped to my brother who was sitting in the passenger seat, his eyes searching mine as if waiting for an answer. "What?"
He looked back out towards the road before turning back to me, "I said, Reece wouldn't shut up about his date with Evie eh?"
He was smiling humorously, but my own mouth wouldn't budge. I looked back out onto the road and gripped the steering wheel a little tighter. I found myself becoming more fascinated with the many houses that lined the streets instead of the current conversation. "No, he wouldn't".
A dead silence filled my truck as we drove towards our house, the air almost suffocating me.
"Okay", Logan said as he pushed himself up to sit higher, "either you smarten the fuck up and tell me what your moody, depressive attitude is about, or you can pull over and drop me off and I'll walk home. Because honestly, I'd much rather do that than sit in a car where I can literally feel the negativity radiating off of you".
I clenched my jaw as I continued to look ahead, "I don't know what you're talking about".
"Oh fuck off Easton", Logan said as he shifted in his seat, "don't play this bullshit game with me. Reece might be too naive to notice anything but I'm your brother. I know when something's wrong. So you can either sit there like a pussy and keep hiding your feelings, or you can tell me".
"Nothings wrong", I mumbled as I continued to drive.
Logan sighed as he ran his hand through his hair, a similar habit we shared when we were either unsure or frustrated.
I could see from my peripheral vision that he was looking at me. A few moments had passed before he spoke again, "it's because of her isn't it".
My eyes shifted to his before I looked back at the road, my mouth forming a thin line.
Logan continued to look at me, a small smile slowly forming on his lips as he lightly chuckled and looked out the window, "you like her". I looked over at him, a little dumbfounded at his accusation, "you like Evie".
My mind instantly went to a denial response, but I was hesitant. Maybe it was time to finally tell someone know how I truly felt, even if it wasn't who I so desperately wanted to tell. I sighed as I focused ahead again, "is it that obvious".
"Well considering the fact that every time you look at Reece now it looks like you want to kill him? Yeah, pretty much".
"Fuck sakes", I said shaking my head.
"Dude, it's fine. To Reece, you're just not as talkative right now. Love the guy but he's not exactly the smartest person when it comes to social cues". Logan said with a lopsided grin.
