~ A Tempting Offer ~
Evie
I hopped into the white Mazda three as Liv pulled up in the parking lot, and before I even shut the car door, she had managed to turn the music down so that Carrie Underwood was barely audible through the speakers as she leaned over into my personal space eagerly.
"Sooo, how was the chat with Easton?" she asked while wiggling her eyebrows.
I smiled without teeth as I fastened my seatbelt, her car smelling of tropical fruit as I inhaled deeply, "well, it was...short", I said as I glanced over at her.
"What do you mean short?" She asked as she quirked up an eyebrow.
"It was short as in Megan didn't find it appropriate and immediately interrupted", I rolled my eyes as I thought of the vicious redhead, "she called me a home wrecker".
"The nerve of that bitch", Liv scowled as she put the car into drive. Her small hands were turning white due to the intense grip that she constricted around the steering wheel.
I usually trusted Liv's driving, but she became a completely different driver when she got mad, and right now she looked absolutely furious. So naturally, I grabbed the 'holy shit' handle as she zoomed through the parking lot and out onto the street.
She shook her head as she continued, "that snake has no right telling you what's appropriate and what isn't. Or calling you a bloody home wrecker. Heck! She even cheated on Easton with his best friend back in tenth grade".
My eyes bulged out of their sockets as I regarding Liv's comment, "she did what?"
"You heard me", she said taking a left down Vernon street, a little too quick I might add, "she is the biggest hypocrite if I've ever met one".
I was at a loss for words as I sat back in my seat, thinking about how they've been acting recently, "but Easton wouldn't get back together with her if she had cheated on him. Would he?"
Liv sighed as we neared my driveway, slowing the vehicle down so that she could park on the side of the street, "I don't know babe. I didn't think he would, but with the way that she's acting, and if he's going along with it, then I think they might be getting back together".
She looked at me with sad eyes as I glanced from her to my hands, fiddling with them as a distraction while I tried to mask the hurt and disappointment that I knew would be evident on my face.
I felt a slight pressure on my arm as Liv's small hand squeezed my own, "I'm sorry Eves".
I looked at her with a small smile, trying my best to mask the emotions that I felt, and shrugged my shoulders, "there's nothing to be sorry for Liv".
She was quiet for a moment, but then she broke the silence as my heart deepened with sad realization, "You know that I can read you like a book, right?"
I looked up at her chocolate eyes as she studied me, "Which means that I can tell that you like him Evie".I let out a huff as I ran my hand through my hair in frustration, "well, there's not much that I can do about it now", I said as I opened up the car door.
Liv did the same as she opened hers and stepped out. We were both quiet as we walked towards the house, but the silence was broken once again, "well, there is one thing that you can do", she said with a smile.
"What's that?" I asked as I let out a sigh.
She linked her arm through mine as she pulled me towards my front door, "get drunk with your best friend".
