~ Ride or Die ~
Evie
"Nope. No. There's absolutely no way that I am getting on that thing", I said backing away from the sleek black death machine that Easton parked in front of me.
"Oh come on Evie", he said with a curt smile while rolling his eyes, "we won't even be going that fast".
"Bull fucking shit", I said eyeing the bike up and down suspiciously, "and where would I even sit?"
"Well that all depends on you", he replied handing me his bike helmet. "You can either sit behind me and hold on", he continued, "or sit in front of me so that I can brace you while I drive".
I could feel my face burn up at the thought of being that close to Easton. On one hand I could focus on the road if I sat in front of him, but I had a feeling that his presence behind me would make it impossible to forget he was there. So sitting behind him it was. "I'd probably sit behind you".
"Alright, holding on it is then", he said while climbing onto his bike. The machine roared to life like a Savannah lion as he revved the motor. The sudden sound cause me to jump back further. I had never ridden on a motorcycle in my life, and I damn well didn't plan on it today.
"I never said that I was getting on", I argued, still staring warily at the bike, "I just admitted to where I would probably sit if I ever had to ride on this thing".
"Well this is the only ride that I can offer you at the moment", Easton said getting off the bike, "so you're shit out of luck. Besides, it'll be fun! What's the worst thing that could happen?"
"Wipe out. Get run over. Catch into flames?" I listed as my brain worked a million miles a minute, trying to find any rationale reasoning as to why I shouldn't get on that damn motorcycle.
Easton gently took his helmet back from my hands, placed it over my head, and fastened up the chin strap. "Evie, relax. You can trust me".
I huffed at his response.
Like I would trust him! A ride home in a car was totally different than riding on a motorcycle. This was totally insane!
I put both of my hands up to touch the helmet, and felt where the visor was. I wiggled it around to make sure that it was secure, this rewarding me a smile from Easton. "That will help protect your eyes from the dust while I'm driving, but you don't have to put it down if you don't want too".
"If I'm getting on that thing", I said pointing to his bike, "and that's a big if, I'm not taking any chances. I'll take all the protection I can get"
"Does that rule apply to other things as well", Easton asked with a smirk. I couldn't hold back from lightly smacking him on his arm while rolling my eyes.
"Get your mind out of the gutter Woods", I said scowling, which only caused him to widen his smile.
"Sorry, it kind of happens involuntarily as a guy", he said while walking back to his bike. He pulled out his phone to quickly glance at the time, followed by placing it back in his pocket. "Alright, so what will it be Evie? Are you going to wait for a ride that might never come", he said glancing back at me, "or are you going to come with me for the most entertaining ride of your lifetime?"
I broke eye contact with Easton, and looked over the parking lot towards the lacrosse field that was eventually met by a lush forest. There was a pathway through the forest that I remember Liv and I taking to her house back when we were in middle school. It wasn't too far of a walk, about a half an hour, but the sun was setting sooner than I had expected, leaving a light tinge of orange and yellow in its wake. Easton wasn't wrong, I'd either be waiting here at the school until Liv was done with coffee boy, or be walking home in the dark if I didn't decide to leave with him.
