A young woman with pale blonde hair and deep green eyes, hears a particular ringtone (Promentory-Last of the Mohicans: music when Uncas is killed and Alice jumps off the cliff). The ringtone is reserved for close friends only. She knows exactly who is on the phone. It is an older man named John Carter.

"Hello John, old friend..." the woman said in a tired voice. It is the kind of being tired, only stress and sorrow brings on.

"Lilla, it's not good, David is in stage 4 cancer of the pancreas and is asking you to pay him a last visit. When can you get to London?"

An exhausted sigh is heard and Lillia said back, "I am getting on a plane as we speak, should be there in 7 hours, barring weather."

"You remember Jack Castle, the American transplant who owns the bar and club named Doppelganger?" John asked.

"Of course, is he going to bring Blue Baby to pick me up?" she replied in excitement.

John laughed," It's supposed to be a surprise! Yes but you didn't hear it from me! Oh one last thing, I have some 'exotic' lollipops for you, to wrap your mouth around."

"FFFpph! I'm sure you have! I suppose they come from an expensive Candi shop?"Lilly laughed hard.

John just laughed hard, himself and hung up, on his end of the phone. Lillia let a little laugh out and felt her cheeks flush just a little. At least some things never change, with her friend John.

Archaeologist John Carter was a descendant of the Carter family, that discovered King Tut. He was a handsome man, slim build with dark brown hair, to the shoulder and tied back. He had breathtaking grey-blue eyes. John was always found at functions with beautiful women. Lilla never fell for him though. Carter was the kind of man that didn't want to be tied down, to one woman. Though at times, the two played the game of subtle sexual hints and gestures, to see who would get flustered or embarrassed first.

Lilly (as her friends called her) was a food expert of embarrassment and John words.

When the plane was in the air safely, as she hated take offs and landings, (something about trusting another to get flying machines into the air) Lilly ordered Bailey's on the rocks. She always loved, how the sweet and creamy drink went down and then you tasted, the whiskey aftertaste.

When was the first taste?

It was 1974, with her friend John Carter. Lilla had come to Britain from Egypt, to see some of her hard work, with getting the King Tut exhibit going. The exhibit was started in 1972 but this was the first time she could take the time to actually admire it.

At about the halfway point of the flight, Lilly slipped into a restless sleep. She by nature, was one of those who could survive on about four hours of sleep. So falling asleep on the jet was unusual for her. Perhaps it was the emotional strain. She had not seen David in seven years. The couple had been an "item" and all their mutual friends figured that David and her would 'tie the knot'.

Sadly, Lilly would not get married. She had a bad experience with a man once. He left her at the altar. It was December 1476, and she was to be wed to a brilliant but brutal tactician Prince Vlad III Drǎculea. The Prince understood how to create a horrifying psychological effect. He knew how to 'steal' the courage of men by simply seeing rotten corpses on impalement stakes.

As the wedding vows were being said, a ragged and thin messenger entered the chapel. "My Prince, the Turks are nearing Bucharest! Oh please ride out and save our beloved land!"
