Chapter Twenty-Nine

Jungkook was sat in the living room, biting his nails and bouncing his knee, Tae' had been gone for two hours now and Taechi was sensing something was wrong. She crawled onto Kookies lap and wrapped her arms around his neck. She looked at him, her big eyes scared.

"Where's Pappy?"

He looked at her, she was so worried, he hugged her tight his face in her hair.

"I wish I knew Baby girl."

His phone rang and he quickly picked it up, not looking at who the caller was.

"Tae'? Is that you?"

"Jungkook?"

He recognised that voice, it was his friend Ji-Hong from the hospital, but why was he calling...he got a bad feeling.

"Ji-Hong?"

"Jungkook, you need to get to the hospital, quick...It's Tae'"

"What?? What happened?"

"Just get here, and leave your daughter at home, she shouldn't see this."

"What, what's happened? Tell me."

"Just get here, quickly."

The phone went silent and Jungkook stood, he placed Taechi down and pulled Namjoon out into the hall. He looked around, to make sure Taechi hadn't followed him, then he grabbed Namjoons arm.

"That was Ji-Hong, Tae's in hospital."

"What...why?"

"He wouldn't tell me, we need to go...now." Jungkook headed to the door grabbing his keys as he went.

Namjoon asked the guys to watch Taechi and followed after him. They had been in the car for ten minutes when they came up to a traffic jam. Up ahead a tow truck was placing a car on the back, Jungkook tapped the wheel, eager for it to be quick, when Namjoon grabbed his arm and gasped. Jungkook looked at him. He was looking at the wrecked car.

"That's Tae's car."

Jungkook shot his head round to the car, and realised with a sunken heart that it was indeed his husband's car, smashed to hell being loaded onto the back of the truck.

"Tae' god no please." He said, tears falling down his face. They drove past and Jungkook saw a fallen tree, clearly Tae' had driven into the tree. But why?

They reached the hospital at speed and Jungkook had barely parked before jumping out and running into the hospital. Namjoon was numb as he locked the car and rushed after him.

Jungkook saw Ji-Hong and rushed to him, he grabbed his arms and looked at his face, trying to see any sign of hope.

"Tae', where...is...he" Jungkook gasped.

"I'm sorry Jungkook, you can't see him right now, he's having surgery, he drove into a tree, after avoiding another car that swerved in his path, I've heard witness statements, he tried to avoid the car in front of him, and lost control of the car, he severed his leg, and banged up his head badly, we are trying to repair his leg right now, but he may never walk again."

Jungkook collapsed to the floor, Namjoon leant down beside him and put his arm around his shoulders. He had to be strong for Jungkook and Tae' but he was fighting back tears...his poor brother.

Ji-Hong got down to his knees and comforted Jungkook, his friend had been through so much, now this, someone up there had it in for them.

Tae opened his eyes and looked around, he was in a white space, laying on the ground nothing around him as far as the eye could see...'where am I?' he thought to himself. He sat up and tried to remember the last thing he did...He remembered driving, then the tree then...nothing. 'Am I dead?' he thought to himself. His thoughts went to his daughter, she couldn't lose another parent, it would destroy her, and then there was Kookie, how would he cope, he tried standing but his body was heavy, he looked himself over then noticed his leg was transparent, he tried touching it but his hand went straight through, he pulled his hand back, in shock. "Am I dead?"
