My friends and I walk back to the cabin. The sky above is bright blue, and filled with glowing-white fluffy clouds, that remind me of chicken and dumplings, or cotton. The gravel crunches beneath our tennis shoes as we hike up the path to the cabins. When we get to them, we stand on the porch for a while, letting the food digest. Peaceful quiet fills the air. The only noises we can hear are woodpeckers, some other birds that I don't know about, and the breeze rustling the pine trees.
"What kind of bird is that?" Candy asks. Mariana pulls out a small book from her backpack.
"It's a mountain chickadee." Mariana said. Camp was already awesome! Nature and chickadees and friends are things I haven't been around for a long time.
We go inside the wooden cabin, and leave the screen door open. It's already 11:23 in the morning.
"So what do you wanna do now? We can hike in the woods, or go o the lake, or, anything really." Jordan asked. She laid on the bed, looking bored.
"I don't know...the lake?" I replied. The lake sounded pretty nice. I'm never around any natural water. So that's where we went, to Lake Tahoe.
The water was clear and cool. Little tadpoles swam near the shore, eating. Jordan sat on a big rock, and took off her shoes. The others arrived from the outhouses with their swim suits on. We all went into the lake, splashing and shivering. On our way to get lunch, we took a shortcut through the woods. I felt something watching me. Not some normal creeped out feeling you get when you're in the woods, something else.
