We all bolted onto the porch to investigate the sound. It wasn't anyone at the campsite. Everyone else bolted out too. Gabby and her little gang, Hannah and the girls in her cabin, and a zillion other girls I don't know.
"What is that?" I hear one of the girls ask. Everyone seems to be shaken by the mysterious scream. In three words, this moment is more than unsettling, and if anything else, it was Jordan followed by the more high-pitched scream of the A girl. But what made it MORE unsettling, was that the screams were not playful ones, or a bug flew in my mouth ones. No. This was the sound of ultimate sufferingng! I rush over to Candy, who is also in a panic.
"What should we do? I know it's the girls!" I say.
"I don't know, Violetta. There's not much we can do. It's midnight, none of us REALLY want to go into the woods, and those could be playful screams." Candy says, although I know she does'nt mean anything she's saying.
"Alright, kids, there's no need for alarm! We'll investigate it in the morning." Troop leader shouts to everyone.
"You should have been asleep hours ago. Go back inside your cabins!" she shouts again. What she does not understand is that two girls are in the woods, we're teenagers and don't go to bed at eight at night, and also, how can we sleep about when there's a camp crisis on our hands?
