I sit alone on the edge of my bed. I listen to the sound of silence. Not the song---the thing. I really make my brain work, trying to think about what silence actually sounds like. It's like trying to discribe what air tastes like. Butt all I know, is that silence is blank, and the taste of air is blank, and if you were to slice me in half, i'd be hollow. So really, I'm also blank. I know I've said it a zillion times, but I AM BLANK!
My phone rings, braking the silence. It's mom.
"Hello." I say, lamely.
"Hi sweety! How are you? Are you having fun?" She asks, ignoring the tone in my voice. She asks every question but, you sound sad, are you okay?
"Blank. And no, I'm not having fun at all."
"Oh no! Why not?"
"Because Jordan, Alison and Gabby went missing."
"Who are they?"
"MOM! Jordan is my best friend, Alison is some random idiot, and Gabby is Ariana's cousin!"
"Oh..right." That's all she says? Seriously? She obviously disregarded what I said.
"They went MISSING!" I said, reminding her.
"What? That's terrible." She said. After a long time of the conversation, we hung up. I would typically love to talk to my mom. But during a crisis in my life, I just want her to care.
