Mario proceeded to put the map in his back pocket, then twisted the doorknob, and pulled the door open, or at least, he tried to. The door was stuck. He tried pulling harder, but it didn't budge. It stubbornly stayed in place.

"Damn." Mario said under his breath. He looked around the porch for something to use to pry the door open.

"Ah!" Mario exclaimed. He spotted a crowbar that laid by the stairs. He then reached to pick it up, but stopped when he held it in his hand. His face was a mix of confusion and horror. The upper part of the crowbar was tinted with blood that had dried over time. He dropped it in fear, and it yelped as he jumped back. It made a klang as it hit the floor.

"Mamma mia, what in the world?!" he exclaimed. He quickly looked around him in fear. There wasn't anyone there but him. He didn't spot any bodies, or blood tinted grass. He looked back at the crowbar.

'Did someone use this to-?' He then stopped himself as he shook his head. The last thing he needed was to scare himself with crazy theories. He picked it back up and looked towards the door.

'Well it's the only item I can use right now....' he thought. He then wedged it between the door and the wall, and pulled, using his upper body strength. With great effort, he finally managed to get it to budge, and it tore open. He smiled at his achievement. He then looked back at the crowbar. He was still disturbed by it, as there was blood on it. Not wanting to be involved with whatever messed up nonsense that included the crowbar, he left it behind, and laid it back on the stairs. He then exhaled.

'Well, here I go....' he thought, as he peered inside the mysteriously famous mansion. Mario was actually a bit stunned. Sure, the mansion had a creepy vibe to it, but he saw literally nothing out of the ordinary. It seemed like a normal house. Then what was so special about it that people came here, only never to return? He huffed as millions of questions filled his head, but decided to stop stalling, and get on with it.

He slowly walked inside, taking every step with caution. Darkness covered the entire mansion, and with that fact, it reminded Mario of his lantern. He looked to his left side where his lantern hung on a hook, connected to his trousers. He took it off, and lit it with a match. It gave off a glow, illuminating the room. Mario's face lit up, and he was able to see more clearly.

"Okay then, time to start investigating," Mario said with determination. He quickly scanned the room, and walked around the room, analyzing his surroundings. There seemed to be small tables around, and small libraries located around the foyer.

"Hmm, nothing of interest," he said nonchalantly. He continued on, taking in all his surroundings, and stopped when he spotted....

"Flower plants? And their fake too. How tacky," Mario said with a disinterested face. He looked back around the room, and started to get a bit frustrated. What the heck? There was nothing of interest here! Why on earth would people even come to this place in the first place? Was it because of rumors? And why is it that people even disappear, and never come back? Could there have been an assailant who did all this? Did he or she lure people to this place, and initially kill them? But that made no sense! This mansion has been here for possibly centuries! No one could live that live that long.... unless....

"A ghost...?" he barely whispered. Suddenly, fear started to rack through him. But, how could that be? What business would a ghost have here? Could it actually be King Boo? But this has going for centuries. So something else is at play.... but what?

And that's when he heard it.... that cursed sound. He turned to the door next to him on his left. It was..... music? He went towards the door, and with uneasiness, turned the door knob. He was then welcomed into a new room that had similar features to the one he was in before. He raised up his lantern to light up the room, and that's when he saw it. Sitting on a small round table in front of him, right in the middle....

Was a simple red music box.

How many years had it been? A hundred? A thousand? Well, curse it all! Damn. Being stuck in a crappy music box can do absolute wonders to one's mind. Or wait. Did she even have a mind? She was a spirit. Whatever. She just had to wait until some idiot came to the mansion again to get a new host. Yes. She just had to wait. Soon, soon enough, she would have her revenge. Alice smiled with a sadistic manner. Oh how she would just love to strangle Riba....

                        Creak!

Alice froze. She could hear footsteps shuffle around the foyer. Someone was here. She feel the presence of a human inside the mansion.

'Already?!' she thought with dumbfounding tone. Seems the rumors about this place did not fail in making it infamous. She already had another host to use to exact her revenge and leave this god-forsaken hellhole. She grinned with her teeth showing, and laughed wickedly. Well, there was no time to waste.

Mario was stunned, and a bit disturbed by the music box playing by itself. Although, he was quite intrigued by it. He hesitantly walked towards the box.... slowly reached out his hand.... and his gloved hand met the surface of the music box.

Almost immediately, Mario felt the cold feeling of another presence surging through him. It felt like something out of this world was merging itself into him. He quickly freaked out, and jumped back with a yelp. He then dropped his lantern out of fear. He was panting hard and glancing at his hand.

"W-w-what was that?!!" he exclaimed. He then suddenly shivered at the cold presence he could feel throughout his entire body.

"W-what the-?" he didn't even get to finish before he heard her voice.

"Well that was lovely, wasn't it? Nice to meet you."

Right then and there, Mario fainted.
