"What?" Riba barely whispered. Mario started to inch back a little.

"A-Alice! She told me what you did! Why?!" Riba seemed to frozen solid. His face then quickly turned to raging anger.

"Why?! Why?!Do you even know what that woman did to me?! She murdered my family!!! My real one!!! That monster only cares for herself!!! Maybe I did care for her back then, but she destroyed it with her disgusting and envious actions!!!! SHE GOT WHAT SHE DESERVED." Riba said through his teeth. His entire face was red and boiling, but he slowly withdrew, after seeing Mario's face. It was filled with horror, and tears were sliding off the side of his face. His mouth was covered with his gloved hands. Riba's face then turned to concern as he tried to reach out for Mario.

"W-wait, Mario. I-I'm sorry.... I didn't mean it like that to you..... I.....she......" Riba's words were stuck in his throat, and he couldn't say anything else. Mario then shook his head as he back away.

"Riba, I don't know what kind of hell you've been through in your lifetime, but.... you-you can't just.... kill someone because they did you wrong!! I-I actually trusted you...." Mario was a few inches from the door.

                     "Mario, wait! I'm sorry, I-"

"It's not me you should be apologizing to, Riba." Mario said, before he walked out, tears streaming his face.

"See why you should listen to me Mario? He could've ended your useless life right there. If only you hadn't trusted him to begin with-"

                      "Shut up...."

"You know I'm right, so don't deny it. I bet he's still in the study.... *laughs*, we may still have a chance at killing him, and I can finally finish my revenge-!"

"SHUT UP!!!!!! SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Mario screamed until his throat lacked air. He fell to the ground with tears streaming down his face.

"You.... you really are a monster!!!! Both of you!!!! Why would you two do such horrible things?!?!?! WHY?!?!?!? And you keep tormenting me!! Stop it!!! I'm not killing anyone!!!!!"

"Drama king. Calm down already. In all seriousness, it's not good to lose your cool like this. It could drive you to do something you'll regret." Mario looked up. He hated to admit it, but she was right. He needed to calm down, and think. Think about what happened, and what he'll do next. He inhaled and exhaled. He slowed his breathing, and his heart rate began to calm.

"See, was that hard?" Mario just shook his head in annoyance. He looked around his surroundings. He was in a small hallway, a couple of feet away from the study. He sighed, with sadness in his voice, and returned to the foyer. His lantern was still hanging on his waist,  and he took it off. It was still lit, so that was good. He decided to go to the bookshelf to see if he could find anything of interest.

"Alice? Can I ask you something?"

                      "Hmm?"

"Why did you choose me?" Mario asked. Silence seemed to fill his head for a while, before she finally answered again.
