𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑁𝑒𝑥𝑡𝑀𝑜𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛g Klaus woke up confused to where he was. He knew for certain it was not his bed he was in. He felt a body laying him; looking next to him he saw locks of blonde hair spread out. Last nights events coming back to him as he remembered; he transformed into his wolf unwillingly and the last words his wolf said to him before it took over completely going to Caroline before Klaus was able to come back and yell Caroline that it was truly him.
Mate. Mate. Mate.
Caroline Forbes was his mate. His Caroline was his soulmate.
Realizing that he was naked Klaus vamped off to his mansion to get some clothes before Caroline woke up knowing he would have to explain to her last night. . . . Caroline woke up in an empty bed remembering last nights events of Klaus coming to visit her in his wolf form and being so comfortable with him. That had never happened with Tyler before but then again every time Tyler was in wolf form he was fighting with someone. After laying there some more Caroline eventually got up and went downstairs to get some breakfast
"I swear Klaus has some serious explaining to do about last night. Where the hell is he anyway?" Caroline said out loud . . . Coming downstairs Caroline smelled food so she rushed to the kitchen and saw the man in question standing there using the stove "So you can cook now" Caroline said sitting down at the breakfast bar
"Always could love, I just prefer my food a tad bit raw while you enjoy more of the well done meal"
"That is a terrible metaphor. So what did you make" Caroline asked before he turned around with a plate.

"Wow, I would have just been fine with a bowl of cereal" Caroline said looking at the breakfast bestowed upon her before digging in "This is so good. Come and get some" patting the seat beside her for him to sit down and the two began to share the breakfast plate . . . "Ok, so about last night" Caroline asked questionably
"Yes, love" Klaus answered hesitantly not knowing where she was going with her question
"Why,why did you come h-here in wolf form? I mean out of all the places you could have been why here."
"Well actually love, my wolf brought me to you"
"Why?"
"Well love, it seems that my wolf is very fond of you as well"
"Why"
"Well Caroline..." Klaus started before putting the fork down thinking of how to explain this to her
"Do you know what mates are?"
"Huh?"
"Well, a mate is essentially your better half. They make your wolf stronger. They are there to protect you and keep you safe. Mates are essentially what you would call your soulmate they-"
"Ok, so what does that have to do with your wolf coming here last night"
"Well love, if you let me finish I am getting there. My wolf like most have mates. We find our mate normally when we turn 18 but I having a minor setback has found mine later in life."
"Okay...what does this have to with me" Caroline wondered
"You are my mate Caroline"
"I'm sorry, what?! How can that be! I mean you said it yourself it involves wolves oh and look at that I am not one"
"Yes love, I know that and that is what baffles me"
"The great and mighty Niklaus Mikaelson is baffled. I'm sure that doesn't happen on a regular basis"
"Believe me, it doesn't"
Not really knowing how to continue the two sat in silence. Looking at the time Caroline remembered her mother took a late shift and would be coming home soon
"So,...um- not to be rude or anything but my mom should be coming home from her shift and she can't see you here"
"Kicking me out love, after the wonderful night we spent together" Klaus said with a sly smirk
"You know what... never mind the least of your problems will be me kicking you out if my mother finds you in our kitchen" Caroline said pushing Klaus out of the kitchen
"What is she gonna do, shoot me? Remember Caroline the perks of being immortal I can't die" Klaus said with a very amused look on his face
"Just. Just go, I will talk to you later" Caroline said finally getting Klaus to her door
"Oh, you'll talk to me later. Caroline what will your friends think of you having late nights and conversations with the big bad wolf"
"Out Klaus I mean it"
"Fine. I have to go talk to a witch about this new found discovery. I will call you to come to the house when she has given me the answer that I want"
"What are you going to do if she gives you an answer you don't agree with"
"Well, we'll just have to see won't we"
"You can't kill her."
"Why not? When I call for her services and expect to get nothing but the best. If she fails to give me the answers that I seek she if therefore not of importance"
"That Logic is stupid, what if she has a family, kids, and your going to end her life because you weren't satisfied with answer"
"Precisely love, you knew this when you met me. No rest for the truly wicked"
"Unfortunately, but as soon as she has the answer to how we are so called 'mates' with me being a vampire call me."
"Understood love" An with that Klaus flashed out in the nick of time as the sheriff was coming down the street
