After the weekend things were mostly uneventful, she did most of what you would expect of a student. She talked shit with her friends, she went to class, and she tried to survive. Her brain often went to James' situation, she would look at him and give him a smile before continuing to ponder. She had seen weird thing happen at this school; money randomly appearing in her pockets when she was hungry, projectiles being launched by nothing and hitting jerks in the head, and once she swore she saw the chairs in the classrooms moving around on their own.

She figured the best thing to do to help James was to talk to Adam. He was always willing to help people he thought needed it, and he was a pro at presenting masculine his voice, his height, the way he carried himself. He was the most handsome person she knew. Most people probably wouldn't be able to tell he's trans, even though he didn't try to hide it, Katie admired that about him, he was open about who he was.

She got around to asking about passing tips from Adam. They met with the rest of their group of misfits in the usual place, where the teachers can see, and they can get food. Talking about gender and stuff to do with it was easy around these people, she felt no need to be hush about it. After exchanging the usual "hey how are you" with everyone she went straight to Adam, and she could feel her heart beating faster. She had to focus, he was cute, but she had to get this information.

"Hey, Adam? I need some advice about passing as a boy"

"Sure, but if I may ask why you would want to do that?"

She wasn't exactly sure how to say her asshole of a friend suddenly got sex bent, so she decided to do the logical thing and lie.

"I have a friend that has discovered he might be trans"

"Oh, okay, so first off I'd recommend they get a binder, I can't leave the house without one of those or a sports bra otherwise I get swamped with dysphoria. Secondly, I'd recommend a haircut, it's dumb but hair can be a big thing. Baggy clothes are also a must they help hide any unwanted curves or cleavage that might still be poking out" Katie thought about what they had done over the weekend and the jumper that was in James possession, it was nice to know she had done the right thing.

"Did that help Katie?"

"Yes, thank you so much"

"No problem let him know that if he needs a trans older bro, I'm always down to talk."

"I will when I next talk to him" She said with a smile. She doubted he would extend that offer to James though.

"So how have you been doing with your weirdness hunting?" He asked with genuine curiosity.

Adam was one of the few people she told about the things she saw going on. She first told him about it when they first met in the hallway a year prior when her books got slapped out of her hand by some invisible force. At the time she was alone most lunches because she cut James off in preparation for her coming out, and Adam invited her back to his group. He found her story about the invisible force intriguing. She would tell him every time something new happened and he would listen, even occasionally mentioning the odd occurrences he encountered.
Now that she had found something huge it felt weird not to tell him.

"Some big weird is going down, that's all I can say I'm trying to figure it out so I'll let you know when I have figured it out" She wanted to tell him more but she needed to ask James first and she needed to figure out if the happenings are related.

"You can't tease me like that Katie?" He jokes "Are you sure you can't give me a few details?"

"It's classified! Though other things have kept happening like I forgot my lunch yesterday so I was wondering if something might happen so I decided to record inside of my bag to catch what might be doing this? And guess what?" She realised how quickly she changed the topic, and how dorky she must have sounded while rambling.

"What?" he replied with a smile gracing his face.

"There was a muesli bar. Under my phone. All that happened on the recording was a slight noise. It's ridiculous." She ranted. In thinking about James, she had completely forgotten about the muesli bars and how they taunted her with mystery.

"That's ridiculous!"

"I know! At least it was a good muesli bar it had chocolate chips it" She said. "How about you? Any stupid magic muesli on your end?"

"No surprise snacks but my voice has been getting deeper I guess, but that could be some of the training I've been doing. You wouldn't think humming as deeply as I can would provide these kinds of results though. My chest has been shrinking as well, but that could just be the working out" It was interesting hearing about these kinds of changes, they could be related to whatever had changed James. It was worth thinking about.

"Did you find a connection Velma?" he teased

"It might be related to the classified case!"

"You need to tell me about it when you can, or I'll fight you."
