Call with Katie

She hadn't talked to James since Monday despite trying to get information for him. She thought that maybe his clinginess on the weekend would mean he might try talking to her. Yet the most she interaction she got out of him was when she smiled at him and he looked away embarrassed. She had seen him wandering around the school, she was curious. If he wasn't hanging out with his friends why hadn't he tried to talk to her?

The idea of calling him was one she was unsure of. She didn't know if he'd pick up, she didn't know if he still needed her, she didn't even know if he would have turned back to normal. It was worrying.

She decided to call. It was Thursday now if she didn't talk now she might not find out what's going on with his new loner attitude.

"Hey, this is James?" He answered, his voice was still in that higher register from the weekend.

"Hey, It's Katie. How are things going?"

"I'm fine aside from the fact that my dick is still gone, I still have boobs, and the fact that I'm having to avoid my friends at school."

She breathed a sigh of relief, it was funny how his sarcasm was such a good indicator of his wellbeing.

"So I'm assuming you haven't been found out yet?"

"Not yet, got pretty close though. I completely blanked and forgot I had tits and almost flashed mum"

She couldn't help but laugh at James.

"How did you manage that?"

He explained the incident, while she laughed at his stupidity. It was good to hear he still had a sense of humour.

"But seriously, this sucks I can't even feel safe at home, with mum here I constantly have to worry about being caught, if I have a shower I have to make sure she's not home, it's stupid."

"It sucks" She remembered trying to hide the clothes she bought, her feminine mannerisms, and her personality from everyone, including him.

"Thanks for checking up. I've been trying to avoid people at school. It's driving me nuts."

"I've noticed,"

She wanted to invite him to hang out with her and Adam, Adam would understand what he's going through. He might be one of the only people in the school that could help him.

"I haven't been able to keep Nick away though. He's been sitting with me, even though I don't talk to him at all"

She could invite them both over, she had talked to Nick before, he was a sweet dude who was into the whole mystery stuff as well, he'd tell her about this force that kept tripping him, or pushing him over. It was neat, she had never been able to figure out why he hung out with James and his friends though. They tended not to take kindly to people who had hearts.

"Maybe you should talk to him, he's more likely to notice you being incredibly quiet than he is to notice a slight pitch change and if you're not with Ben and Lachie why not hang with us, me and Adam aren't likely to make fun of your voice?"

"I'll try talking to him tomorrow then, thanks, Katie."

She figured he might not listen, but it was still good to at least know he wouldn't keep isolating himself.
"I have to go survive dinner with mum. It was good talking to you, Katie."

He sounded so sweet when he was being genuine, gentle even.

"Okay! Goodnight James."

He hung up there.
