An Update.

Hi everyone who's been reading so far. I'm not sure when the next update for this will be out. There's a couple of things I want feedback on and a lot of things I need to write. I'm gonna throw out some of the things I need help with here since these are ideas I feel are important to the story going forward. The next part I have in my drafts is needing a complete overhaul due to some major characterisation changes that make a lot of banter I had initially written, obsolete.

I finally have a concrete way I want to end this story, and what story beats I want to hit. I didn't have that when I started uploading these chapters and up until last month, I wasn't quite sure where I was going with it.

There's a couple of things I want feedback on:

Release schedule: With the rewriting of this story being uploaded to Scribblehub, I have been getting slow with updating with new chapters. There's a couple of reasons for this.

1. Since I'm rewriting earlier chapters that affect how I need to write going forward. I want characters to be more in line with the rewritten stuff as that is the canon version of the story.

2. I'm also writing more overall which means I'm spending less time writing this part of the story.

3. I'm starting to run out of draft material that is actually useable. A little history on this story. I started writing it in a discord chat with a bunch of friends. We had a couple of channels where they would write fanfiction and I would write this. That was a little over a year ago. I started rewriting that old stuff into the original versions I posted to Wattpad. Everything I have posted up until this point has been a drastically reworked and rewritten version of that original story. I changed so much of the original stuff that now the last bits of drafts I have saved don't work with the current story.

With all that in mind. Would y'all like me to set a schedule for release? It would likely be once a week if I'm lucky. I can't guarantee I'll always be able to meet that though. But I can certainly try. This does mean I won't have as much time to work on any new stories though.

Perspective Changes: As of now, the entire story has been focused on Katie and James. There are some events coming up in the story that would benefit story-wise from not being limited to those two. Specifically, I'm thinking of using Nick as a new POV character. I feel like things might make less sense if his perspective isn't included. Him finding out is meant to be a moment where he becomes more important to the story.  He won't start dominating the story or anything but his perspective is necessary.

Part 1: There is a lot going on in this story, multiple things all affecting James and Katie and their friendships. There is a lot that needs to happen to bring this story to a close and unfortunately, a lot of those things take time. Like in-story time. That time needs to happen for the story to work the way I want it to but I don't want to load the story with filler. I'm going to divide the story into a Part 1 and a Part 2.  Part 1 won't be over for a couple more chapters. Part 2 will start a couple of months after the events of Part 1.  This will hopefully prevent the story, and the character development, feeling rushed. Is there any problems with this you feel like would need addressing?

Backlog: I'm not sure whether I should replace the backlog of this version with what I have rewritten on Scribblehub. This would just be me fixing up and replacing a lot of what was wrong with the previous chapters. I did it for chapter 1 and 2 but that was before it became less of a re-edit and more of a rewrite. What would y'all prefer?

Sorry. I know this isn't a chapter but it's the only way to really ask all of this stuff right now. Follow me on here if you want to see other updates from me. I think there is a message system I can post updates on.
