Even though I don't want to, I keep thinking about what Jungkook had said all week. I can't get his eyes and big smile out of my head. That, added with his mysterious aura and his seriousness, has left me without knowing what to think of him.
I want to curse at myself everytime I remember him. And not just because I'm feeling like a hormonal teenager, but for being one. I have to admit that my experience with men is very dull, and that's because I've never been with anyone else that isn't Taehyung, who by the way seems to want to give me my space and let finish with my exams. I still feel bad for lying to him that way, but I don't know how to handle the situation.
Hyerin was very clear: don't talk to anyone about her work and no comments regarding it out loud. Until now I've done what she's asked, but I'm doubting if I should talk to Taehyung. If I tell him the truth, he might understand. Although I doubt it, because he's a very straight forward person: if something is wrong, he has the need to resolve it and help others. If he finds out about Hyerin's work, it's probable that he'll tell my father to try to protect me.
Thus, we're back at square one: I can't tell him because it's bad idea, and I have to lie regarding it.
I look at Hyerin, who plays with the dirt with her shoe.
"Jimin hasn't called me." She says, but she doesn't raise her gaze. "He probably doesn't like me enough."
I roll my eyes.
"Come on, Hyerin, any guy with two eyes thinks you're pretty."
She smiles.
"Really?"
"Really." I raise my eyebrows suggestively.
"Do you think he'll call me?" She says with curiosity.
I'm about to answer when I hear a car getting closer. I look up and realize that it's Hyerin's mom.
I wave at her as a greeting and she returns the gesture.
"I have to go." She sighs as gives me a smile.
She stands up and walks towards her mother.
I say goodbye and Hyerin gets into the car, to then wave at me one last time. I sigh and observe the street. My father was supposed to be here twenty minutes ago.
My phone vibrates inside my bag and I take it out.
Dad:
There's hundreds of customers here
I hope you can get a ride home from
Hyerin. I'm sorry. Take the
afternoon off. I love you.I run my free hand on my face. Heyrin just left and I'm here waiting like an idiot.
Areum:
It's okay, I'll see you when
you get home tonight.
I love you too.
I open the chat that I have with Hyerin and I type:
Aerum:
Hyerin, are you still around?
I'm alone and my dad won't be
able to pick me up. :(
I put my phone away in my bag and stand up from the stairs I was sitting on. I have to walk home alone, since Taehyung has training today.
"Aerum!" A shrieking voice sounds behind me and I wish I could disappear. "What are you still doing here? Has your boyfriend not come for you yet?"
I turn towards Amy and her unbearable friends.
I give them my best smile.
"Amy." I let out with a touch of playfulness. "I thought you and your friends would be at some clothing store."
She smiles.
"You're wrong, as always." She says and all of her friends laugh. "Do you want us to take you home?"
"No, thank you." I say as I adjust my bag on my shoulder.
"Alright, I was just trying to be nice." She shrugs her shoulders. "I suppose that without your friend you're not as quiet, right?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
My phone vibrates and I look the message.
Hyerin:
The chivalry is on its way. ;)I keep observing the message for a few seconds, confused, and then I suddenly hear the roar of a motor behind me.
The first thing I analyze is the reaction of Amy and her friends in front of me, that look behind me stunned. One of them even bites her lip in an attempt of seduction.
Then I turn around, and understand what Hyerin meant when she mentioned a chivalry.
Jungkook is there, perfectly parked in front of the school in his motorcycle, and he has a smile on his face.
"This can't be happening." I whisper, almost inaudible.
I can't believe my best friend did this. I don't understand how she had to choose, out of all people, Jungkook.
"Who's that?" Someone behind me asks, with some sensuality in their tone.
Jungkook looks at me and he smiles. Automatically, my bairn is programed to shut off, and I try to maintain calm. Even if I don't know him, he still makes me nervous.
I slowly get closer to him, dragging my feet heavily.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
He shrugs his shoulders.
"Hyerin told me to come."
"Do you do always do what Hyerin asks you to do?" I ask, crossing my arms over my chest.
He looks behind me and smiles.
"Either you get on the motorcycle, or I'm leaving." He says in a calm tone. "You decide."
