I've called her more than fifteen times, and she hasn't answered. I'm way too worried, but I don't know what to do. She's not like this. Yes well, she sometimes does wrong things, but she would always tell me or drag me with her.
The idea of talking about this to my father is out of the question, since he'll tell her mother, and that will put Hyerin in danger. If she's doing something related to her job, they could find out, and she would never forgive me.
I put a strand of hair behind my ear and I take the tray with the orders in my hands, to then walk to the corresponding table. I've been serving food to customers for more than two hours with my father, and my legs are already hurting.
"Areum." My father calls me. "Someone came to see you."
He makes a disgraceful gesture and then walks into the kitchen. Once I see Taehyung, I smile satisfied. He's at the front of the counter, wearing a blue jacket that has always been his favorite. He's always in a good mood, and that's one of the things I like about him.
"Hi, Taehyung." I greet him while I get closer and deposit a soft kiss over his lips. "How was practice today?"
He makes a gesture.
"Let's just say that the trainer likes to make us sweat."
"You're not the only one who's been sweating all day." I sigh, signaling the tables. "Have you talked to Hyerin?"
He shakes his head.
"No. Why?"
"Well today..."
The words die in my mouth when I observe my best friend walk in through the main entrance. But what really gets my attention, are the guys who are behind her: the first is a complete stranger, and is laughing next to her; the next I recognize instantly: the tattoos on his arm give him away, and I know he's the boxer from the ring from the other day.
What is Hyerin doing with them? Why didn't she respond to any of my messages?
My blood begins to boil, and even more when they sit on a table, and Hyerin walks up to me with a smile on her face.
"Guys!" Hyerin exclaims and puts her arm over Taehyung's shoulder. "How have you been?"
"Good, I-"
"You tell me." I say, interrupting Taehyung. "Since you've been gone the whole day."
She sighs.
"I just had the best day of my life."
"Are you crazy? Do you know how worried I was?" I ask, the anger clear in my tone. "And now you're here, like if nothing happened, with those two men and-"
"Stop right there." Hyerin responds, frowning. "Who do you think you are, my mother?"
"I think that I'm you're best friend." I say, shaking my head, disappointed. "I thought we told each other everything... until now."
Taehyung observes us firmly and tenses with my words. I don't understand how Hyerin committed this stupidity. It doesn't cost her anything to send me a message telling me that she was okay.
"Areum, don't exaggerate." She says, smiling. "I turned off my phone so that my mother wouldn't get suspicious, that's it."
I signal towards the table.
"And what about them?"
"Are you blind?" She says, laughing. "Can't you see how hot they are?"
"Please tell me you're not serious." My gaze travels to them. "They're covered in tattoos and-"
