I rubbed my hands against my naked arms to warm me up, as a light cold air was hitting my body and face. We were in September and the hot summer nights were so far behind us, and Phönix See was known to be a little colder than the other areas in Dortmund. Not that were were in winter, but the fall season was slowly pointing its nose, thus meaning goodye to my mini shorts or dress an hello to the warm cardigans and leggings, well it was a start. I had totally forgot to bring one, because I knew that the air would have cooled down lately after the game. And the worst was that I already get a little black cardigan ready on my bed, constantly remembering that I will have to grab it before leaving my apartment. But in my excitement and hurry to leave for the stadium, I forgot it. "You so dumb Brookie, now you are feeling the cold shivering your body, I hope I won't catch the flu." I never ceased to repeat that to my mind, my back resting against the granite wall next to the large car entry door that was electronically locked. Only Marco had the password and key to open it and I hoped that we not gonna have to wait any more longer. He had promised that he would arrived soon so where the hell was he. I hit my shoe on the wall repeatedly, something I always did when the impatience was gaining on me.
"You're feeling cold isnt' it?" Kaylee asked me, as she lighted one of the cigarette she took from the packet. The sound of the lighter and the smell of the smoke that was floating made me suddenly to want one. The last time I had smoke was in Ibiza and I started to feel the need of it.
"Oh, no, it's okay, I'm trying to keep myself warm as I can." I replied with a crooked smile.
"I had reminded you several times to not forget a cardigan, and boom, wait let me check if I have one by luck in the car." Kaylee said, as she headed to the car.
"No Kay, I said it's okay, Marco won't be long, and as we'll be inside the house, I'll do some hot coffee, just give me a smoke please." I said, walking to her reach, and without asking grabbed a cigarette from the packet, lighted it and had the first puff of it, making me feel more relaxed.
"Im so sure that it Marco who will warm you instead of a hot coffee." Kaylee said hitting gently my shoulders with hers.
"Oh no Kay, the poor boy is so down, I just ... It's hard for him you know, so I'll be the one who'll take care of him, I really wanna be by his side, he needs me."
"Yep I know that Brookie, He's not in his lucky time, that sucks, But I know that his girl will know how to take care of him, isn't it."
"I'll try my best, Its kinda stressful, I don't know if he's the kind of moody over little things, or if Im gonna do things in the right way, he's a fucking footballer Kay." I said inhaling another puff of the cigarette. I meant every words, I was so nervous and afraid to take care of him, because it was so new, everything changed, my life changed. Marco was a part of it, and I had to think including him, I wasn't alone anymore. Was that scaring me as well?
"Footballer or not, just be yourself, remain as you are, the one who made Marco to fall for."
"Kay, may I ask." I said, starring at the empty road right straight in front of me.
