Ashton's p.o.v
"Have fun at school!" My mum yelled as I ran out the car.
It was the first day of school. I was nervous. Even though I was with all my classmates for another year, I felt as though I was alone. I had no friends. No one noticed me. I was invisible.
Everyday was the same. I sat in the back of each class. I ate lunch all by myself. I left school on my bike, not going anywhere with anyone.
The first day was dreadful. One of my teachers made us introduce ourselves so that new students knew us. Of course I acted like an idiot, unable to tell anyone about myself.
"Uh, hi I'm ashton. There's nothing really interesting about me," I mumbled in front of my class.
"There's got to be something," my teacher nagged.
"I'm not very normal. I'm a bit weird actually," I said. Some people laughed and my teacher gave them dirty looks.
Way to go ashton. You managed to embarrass yourself even more. You are now even lower on the social scale. Congratulations.
But that all changed one day. I was the last to leave school, when someone stopped me in my tracks.
"Hey, ashton right?" a somewhat Asian looking fellow asked me. He was a younger class man.
"Y-yeah," I stuttered. I was nervous as hell. I'm shy and awkward. I don't have any speaking skills.
"Hey man, I'm Calum. My two lads and I need a drummer in our band. Someone said you could help us out," he told me.
I guess people do notice me banging my hands on the desk. I never knew.
"I-I'm not that good, but I can try," I mumbled back. My words were barely understandable.
"Thanks mate. Come over to Michael's place tomorrow after school," Calum told me.
This was my chance. My first chance at actually making a friend. I can't ruin this.
That day I ran to my house. I took the old drum kit sitting in my basement and played my heart out. I taught myself how to drum by the time I went to Michael's house on my push bike.
