I know I shouldn’t be ignoring him, I mean in the end it only damages the team but, I just can’t help it and yes, I’m the leader and I’m acting childish but, you just don’t understand and quite frankly you probably never will. Stephanie. Just the name itself makes my teeth clench. And to think that Josh of all people….forget it it’s not worth talking about, either way the show must go on and we must continue trials. After all, this isn’t just about us have you forgotten about the almost 200 kids we have to train? Speaking of which…..
“It’s Wednesday which means the physical part of your training is officially over,” I said and the initiates cheered in happiness. I was actually quite upset about this reason being we didn’t get to do much since the whole Josh thing but, we have to move on. Letting them settle down I continued “Next, is the mental training,” and just like that the once cheers turned into groans.
Everyone knows that mental training is the most difficult part of C.2.R no questions asked. It deals with language, technology, weaponry, and really anything else you can think of that one would need to do on a job. The worst part? You have to complete it in two days.
“As you all know we don’t get very much time for this portion of training therefore we must start as soon as possible,” Derek added.
“Which means in exactly three minutes you all will begin,” Xavier finished and more complaints arose.
“Hey! Enough complaining alright? You signed up for this so you better do your part. No one said it’d be easy and if someone did I’m dearly sorry for the confusion but, if you want to be one of us you have to be trained like us,” Skylar said clearly agitated and the crowd silenced.
“Well then, please report to the bulletin in the hall to see what your first class is you have two minutes,” I said dropping my head to look at my watch “go.”
As they flooded out the doors everyone took off their mask of strong strict leaders and we once again became the six weirdoes’ who for some reason three years ago thought being friends was a good idea.
“I call teaching weaponry,” Xavier yelled.
“I’ll take language,” Skylar screamed and before I knew it all five were belching out different things well, except Josh of course.
“You do realize that you don’t get to pick right?” I said I knew this was going to happen so I chose for everyone.
“What do you mean?” Daniel said.
“If I left it up to you idiots to pick it would take forever with your endless arguing so I did it myself,” I said and they groaned. “Now, Sky you have language, Derek and Xavier weaponry, Josh Technology, and Daniel you’ll be guard for the day.” They all smiled as they realized they all got their favorite classes, I didn’t usually try to torture them so, I don’t know why they had such little faith in me.
Beyond that I assigned them to what they’re all best at I mean it would be kind of dumb not to because, as much as I dislike them sometimes I still have to do what’s right for the team. Sky knows 5 languages which is more than any of us since most of us only know 2 (not including English). Derek and Xavier know everything there is to know about weapons, their parts, and how to use them properly. Besides Sky, Josh is also a tech genius and even though I’m mad at him I wasn’t going to torture him. Lastly, Daniel always has for some reason liked guarding, you know making sure these newbies don’t dig into something that’s not their business since, we don’t really need anyone guarding the actual building technology takes care of most of that but, we do have security guards here and there. Anyway, it takes a lot of energy, you have to be super alert at all times and it’s not usually very entertaining but hey he digs it.
I on the other hand would probably be going from class to class especially Sky and Josh’s since they don’t have two people helping unlike Xavier and Derek or doing some work in my office since there’s always something in there.
“Two minutes is up we should get going,” I said looking down at my watch and we all jogged out the door.
“This is not your average English class. To be part of C.2.R you have to be able to speak two languages besides the one you learned when you were three. Well, they say two but really it’s one and a half. You must speak one fluently, which shouldn’t be hard since most of you are taking a language right now and the other you must be able to just somewhat comprehend, you know the basics,” Skylar said to the group of people who sat before her.
Someone raised their hand and Sky pointed at them to speak. “Which languages do you speak?”
“I speak five not including English of course but, they are Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian and I’m currently working on Hindi,” Sky said and the class whistled in response causing her to smirk. She may not admit it but, I know she loved boasting about being bilingual.
“Forget something?” I asked Sky from the corner of the room where I was standing arms and legs crossed, leaning against the wall.
“No,” she glared at me before continuing “another thing is when you’re on certain jobs if not all you can’t be yourself therefore you have to play a character. To do this involves skill for you have to really convince these people who you are or shall I say aren’t. For example if you’re supposed to be a really classy, sophisticated professor you can’t say ‘yo’ or ‘sup’ you’d say something more formal.” The ‘students’ grew smiles of knowledge on their faces and their eyes twinkled as they finally started to understand the concept. My work here is done I thought to myself as I exited the room.
Josh when he’s not well… Josh resembles a college professor very much for he talks calm (which sometimes even sounds monotonous) and with wide vocabulary. All of us do this for it was simply just how we were trained when you have your shield up you aren’t supposed to be you you’re supposed to be blank. Show no emotion. Resemble someone who is the complete opposite of the actual you.
The problem is he hasn’t let that shield down. Ever since our argument he hasn’t showed a glimpse of his bright, playful personality instead he hides beneath a dull, refined barrier. This scares me. The reason being if he doesn’t ever let his guard down it won’t be a guard anymore it will be him.
I was currently sitting in his ‘classroom’ it feels so funny calling these rooms that for none of us are teachers and none of these people are students even though it may seem like that as of now. No worries once this week is over you’ll see what actually happens in these rooms, and with these people. This is just trials and even though trials may be difficult they’re nothing like the real deal. We may seem structured, skilled, a tad mean, and maybe even gallant but, trust me we didn’t start out this way no one ever does. It was through trials, hard work, determination, time, and C.2.R that we became who we are and it’ll be the same for them.
Woah long time no see. I know I'm sorry this chapter was really difficult to write even though it's just a filler but, trust me I will be back on schedule and the book will be back on track soon. I have my first performance of the year coming up and I've been working really hard on that which has been taking up a lot of my time so bare with me. Further more I know I changed my page a little bit for the month but, don't be confused it's still the same nachomonster300 and that'll never change. This weeks fact about me is my favorite color is purple. Bye I wish you luck suriving next week (agh Mondays).
