Chapter 13 Fixing and F.U.N?

Yesterday’s practice was just like Wednesday’s full with language, weaponry, and technology but, today is different because, today is Friday. Yup the last day of trials which means starting next week we get into the real stuff. Finally, I can stop treating all these people like kindergartens and we can face some real battles. Well, that is once we all get out of school.

“What’s been up Sky?” I asked she’s been quieter than usual the reason most likely being because of Josh but, I still felt the need to ask.

“I’m pretty sure you already know the answer to that question,” she responded still focusing on solving some math problem. I glared at her telling her to be serious for five minutes because, as much as I love her sarcasm I actually need her to talk to me right now. She let out an exasperated sigh finally giving up “I just don’t get it,” she said putting her pencil down finally looking up at me. “He knows the hell Stephanie put us through, who she is, what she does, how she acts so why? Why her of all people? She left and we made sure of that, that we wouldn’t have to come in contact with her ever again and he’s just going to bring her back in again? He helped get rid of her for crying out loud, and now he’s just going to bring her back into our lives like everything is okay? No, I don’t think so.”

Honestly, I can’t remember hearing her talk that much at once well, at least not at school. We both shared the same emotions angry, confused, betrayed but, I’m not going to let our friendship that we’ve built over the years go down the toilet because of Stephanie. I let her control my life once and I’m not going to do it again.

“Sky, look at me,” I said and she lifted her head from writing. I could see the distress in her eyes, the hurt, the pain, but I’m the only one. No one else would’ve noticed no one besides me which is why I have to be the person to do this. “I’m not asking you to forgive him, hell I haven’t even done that yet but, I’m asking you to not back track. I don’t want you to go back to who you were 3 years ago; I don’t want any of us to. Three years ago we were lost, afraid, alone, we were doormats, wallflowers, we were alive but, we weren’t living. Fast forward and here we are. We both have amazing people in our lives, voices, futures, love; we’re finally living and not just being alive. You let this get to you we go back, the last three years of our lives in the basura (trash). Do you really want that, for Stephanie to have control over you again?”

She shook her head and turned back to her work. She believes me, or at least she wants to and that’s all I need for now.

Lunch. Josh hasn’t really sat with us the last week and I’m pretty positive I know where he has been instead but, I let it be he needed space just like the rest of us. We sat at our normal table in the middle of the cafeteria a few tables away from Nicole and her crew. Being popular I knew everyone had noticed Josh’s absence the past view days but, chose to be quiet about it. They either A. Thought he ditched or B. Knew asking probably wasn’t a good idea and would end up with them having a black eye…or two. Either way it kept them out of our hair so I didn’t really care.

Becca would’ve probably sat in his seat if it wasn’t for her and Derek’s argument right now. This reminds me… “Derek,” I said Sky and Blake were having a conversation between one another and Daniel and Xavier were nowhere to be found so it only left us.

“Yeah,” he said coming up for air after munching on his burger making a huge mess.

“Talk to me.”

“What’s there to talk about?” he shrugged and continued eating but, I could see it in his eyes.

“Becca,” I said and his eyes shot up at me “You really love her don’t you?” I said and he nodded the look in his eyes telling me how much he missed her. “Why?”
