do you really know me?
heck, even i dont know
who the real me is
im supposed to know
who i am
but i don't.
so,
how would you know?
...
i can see the real you
masked under all the fake smiles
covered by layers and layers
of makeup, foundation, lipstick
i can peel away all of your masks
and see you for who you really are.
i can see through the high brick walls
that you built to protect yourself
i can see through your facade
that you fake so that you dont get hurt
i can see through all the long sleeves of your shirts
and know that youre not okay.
you are actually just a child
afraid, scared, not knowing who to trust
you have been hurt so much
by others and yourself
your once vibrant spirit
is now dull, lifeless, empty
you're just a child
who feels like she needs to be strong
for everyone
for herself
but, know that its okay
to be vulnerable sometimes
its okay, really
to cry and let it all out.
no one is strong all the time
here, let me be the one
holding your hand as you start to fall
let me be the support
holding you up as you start to crumble
let me be the person
you can rely on
let me be the shoulder
for you to cry on
and finally,
let me be the one
to love you forever
because,
i love you
always have, always will
and i will never fail to shower you
with all the love and care you need.
so that your eyes shine bright once more
and your soul lives in you
once again.
