The demon who made a swear

It's been a year, I think, since I've spared the life of a particular demon. I still don't know the answer why I spared it's life, and, that thought has been bugging me as I slept. Though, aside from that, I never had another encounter with that demon.

Today, the weather is clear as well. I hear the birds chirping in the near distance. The leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, lord Kagaya Ubayashiki, has summoned me, and the other eight pillars in a special meeting. I stare off into the distance, admiring the blue sky, I see a flock of birds fly towards the east.

" What kind of birds are they again..? "

I carelessly thought, I didn't mind the ruckus going around and focused in my surroundings and careless thoughts.

" That's enough, Sanemi, Iguro. "

The leader finally arrived, his voice is still soothing as usual. He wore the same clothes again, and his condition seems to be worsening. We knelt down before him, and greeted him. He halted the two, the Wind pillar, Shinezugawa-san and the Snake pillar, Obanai-san. I looked over to them, like the others right next to me.

" But, Ubayahiki-sama, she's a demon! How can a demon possibly have fought other demons?! " Shinezugawa-san reasoned with the leader, and, has his blade next to the demon's neck.

Wait.. that demon-

....what is it doing here?

" Shinezugawa-san, Iguro-san, kneel down, our leader is right before us. "

I snapped, after seeing the appearance of the demon. After throwing a pebble at them, I knelt down back again. Why.. why is it here? What did it do to get caught by the demon slayers?

I kept my cool, while listening to our leader.

" That is what we are going to find out, wether this girl really is an ally of the demon slayers, or if she is only just a demon. "

Our lord ordered Shinezugawa-san to bring the demon inside of the room , where there is shade. He folded his sleeve, and sliced his skin, blood started dripping from his arm to the ground. The demon made a move, but is controlling itself, it clearly didn't want to eat him, so why is he still standing there? Shinezugawa-san moved closer to the demon, and even splattered his blood in it's face. The demon was clearly resisting the temptation to eat him, why? I panicked, I wanted him to hear my opinion, and I spoke.

" Stop it already. " I ordered him. Shinezugawa-san looked at me with those angry eyes.

"What? Tokito, did you just order me to stop? What the fuck do you know? " He replied back to me, with such foul words, it made me irritated even more.

" That demon hasn't killed anyone. "

I made my answer, I don't expect anyone to believe what I just said, I also don't expect them to side with me. But, I know very well that she hasn't eaten, nor killed a single human.

" ..and why do you think that? " Our leader suddenly asked, making the other pillars look at me with doubting eyes.

" It would have killed itself if so. "
