Her POV
"I wa.… wa…" the old woman didn't finish whatever she wanted to say but her frail hands already pointing to a television far away that Patty understood the request. The old lady want to see what's on television.
She smiled and took down the safe of that wheelchair and wheeled that near that black box. She gifted that two years ago. A large one to replace the old small box.
Immediately, the old woman clapped in joy even if she's seeing a grey background.
"I don't know how?" another old man said, who's sitting on a single couch and scrutinizing a small remote on his hand.
She chuckled, "You can use your eye glass Rick"
The guy finally gazed on her smiling shyly, "I forgot where I put it." She chuckled, lifting her right hand to point her temple. That's when Ricky remember that he keeps on placing his eyeglasses on his head. "A guy can forget things you know"
She laughed at the old man's joke but another old lady slouching at the living room sniggered, "You mean guys tend to forget important things"
By which Ricky frowned as he gave the old lady his gaze, "What was that supposed to mean?"
"My only son…." the woman's statement drowned on her sob. Only one child. Patty knew the old lady's story. Her son never visits her since the day she was 'dumped' there.
She sighed and pouted her way towards the old lady, "I thought you want a daughter?" Patty sat on the carpet floor and looked up at the old lady, "You said I can be your daughter"
"It's not possible that she can produce a gal as good looking as you," another old man joined wearing a brown slacks and button down shirt. The guy's from military background and that's too obvious from his still good built and dressing up discipline.
"You don't need to be rash soldier," said Ricky. "Producing is not the only way to have a child. Sometimes those we just brought up without blood relations are the better one"
"Said by the guy who never reared any," the other one retorted.
"Why would I? See, most of old pips here just dumped here by those people they called offspring," Ricky said. "Such an ingrate…."
"My daughter can't take care of me…." the old woman on the wheelchair cut Ricky's angry words.
"Could you please change that channel?" the old soldier asked Ricky because he took it on a channel showing four beautiful ladies talking at each other.
"I forgot that football channel!" she stand to take that remote on the whining Ricky and took it to that sport channel he wants.
"Oh if I'm as handsome as that, I'll marry you," she heard Ricky said that she followed his line of sight. From the entrance of the living room, there standing the honorable Congressman from Sanders.
Really?
"Ahm, you don't have to be that handsome to marry a girl like me," she almost whispered towards the guy. Embarrass to admit loudly that suit clad guy walking towards her was really that handsome in her eyes.
Gab nodded instantly when he crossed the space between them, "So this is where you always run?"
She gave curled lips in admission, "Not normally." Patty's surprised that Gab learned where she run that day after she escaped Aaron. She doesn't know how to explain to the elders and the hospice staff why there's a tall slender man accompanied her during visit.
"How did you know…."
"I asked your manager," Gab cut her question. "She said you might be here."
