Taking a deep breath, I smiled. The first real smile in a while, really. And, believing myself to be ready, I pushed in the door to the classroom and stepped inside.
As I walked in, though, my eyes connected with a blonde who sat in the seat in front of mine. His eyes widened when he saw me, before the surprise was overtaken by fury.
He pushed himself out of his desk, causing it to screech across the floor, before stomping towards me. I froze in place as he neared me and, suddenly, he grabbed my collar, pinning me against the wall.
"What are you doing here?" he spat.
My body shook, pure terror swirling within me. But, for some reason, I also felt... angry.
Without thinking, I narrowed my eyes at him. "Going to my seat."
He took on a sudden look of surprise before his rage became more intense, causing me to instantly regret my actions.
"Wait, no, I'm sorry," I apologized, nervously laughing.
The blonde narrowed his eyes, growling. "DIE, DEKU!" he shouted, lighting explosions in his unused palm.
Suddenly, I felt an extreme burst of fear and, in one swift motion, I grabbed him by the wrist before slamming him onto the ground.
Surprised, the blonde's eyes widened as he fell to the ground, forcing him to loosen his grip on me.
Falling on the flats of my feet, I began gasping for air, breathing heavily as I stared down at the blonde on the ground. Suddenly, though, I felt something tighten around my wrist, causing me to grit my teeth in pain.
Looking up, I watched as the students stared at me, terrified, and Aizawa held me bound with his scarf. A sudden sense of dread washed over me as I saw the angered look in his eyes.
"What do you think you're doing?" he asked, eyes narrowed.
I gulped. "H-he... He attacked me...," I whispered, eyes watering.
He glanced around the room, but no one would confirm what had happened.
Aizawa sighed after a moment, shaking his head. "I knew this-"
Suddenly, a girl near the back stood up. "S-sensei," she yelled, voice shaking.
Aizawa quickly turned towards her. "What?"
The girl hesitated for a moment, but when she met my eyes, she ultimately continued. "He's not lying," she said, more confident. "Bakugo did attack him."
Bakugo...? I know that name, don't I...?
"Yes," another black-haired girl said slowly, "It'd be wrong to lie. Uraraka and Midoriya are both telling the truth."
Aizawa sighed, dropping the restraints. I quickly grabbed my wrist, noticing a red mark that was left from the tightness of the scarf.
"Fine. Bakugo," he said to the blonde sternly, "I don't want you attacking Midoriya anymore."
Bakugo raised his head, brows furrowed. "Huh?!"
"You heard me," Aizawa narrowed his eyes, then turned to face the class. "As for the rest of you... I don't care what you feel about a person, don't ever lie to me. Got it?"
The class gulped, nodding, and my body trembled even though the ordeal was over.
Bakugo stood, eyes narrowed as he growled at me. "Deku...," he mumbled under his breath.
Breathing heavily, I raised my head towards Aizawa.
"You're not hurt, are you?" he asked.
I shook my head silently.
"Great," he turned towards the class. "Get in your seat then."
Bakugo glared at me, but I hesitantly walked to my desk. As soon as I sat, he turned around, narrowing his eyes at me, before turning back towards the front.
I let out a sigh of relief, careful to be just quiet enough so he couldn't hear me.
And, although I often felt eyes on me, I felt as if there were a kinder pair looking over.
Turning slightly, I noticed a girl with short brown hair and pink cheeks looking at me curiously. The girl who stood up for me.
Blushing, I smiled at her, causing her to become flustered and look away. I should thank her.
---
Standing up, I scanned the room for the brunette before spotting her near her seat. Smiling, I wandered over to her, nervously rubbing the back of my neck.
"Hello," I greeted.
The girl stared at me for a moment, a mixture of terror, confusion, and something else in her expression. "H-hello."
Maybe this was a mistake. "Oh... I'm sorry," I apologized. "I just wanted to thank you. I'll get going now."
Just as I was about to turn around though, she piped up. "No! It's uh, fine. Really, no problem," she said with a small smile.
I smiled. "Hey uh," I mentioned nervously, "I never caught your name."
The girl laughed nervously. "Oh, it's Uraraka."
"Oh, that's a pretty name," I complimented without realizing what I had said. "Err... Sorry...," I blushed.
Uraraka looked to the side, giving me a strained smile as she blushed.
"Well," I said, noticing the tension, "It was nice talking to you."
I smiled before turning around, heading towards the door.
"Hey, uh, D-Midoriya," Uraraka caught my attention once again.
I raised a brow. "Hm?"
"Would..." she coughed, glancing away nervously while pausing. After a moment, though, she smiled at me slightly. "Would you maybe want to join me for lunch?"
My eyes widened, a wide, goofy smile spreading across my face. "Really?!"
Uraraka laughed slightly before nodding, seemingly rid of her nerves. "Yeah."
I screamed internally, but gave her a simple smile. "I'd be glad to."
