-x- Izuku Midoriya's POV -x-

"That was so manly, dude," Kirishima grinned, walking beside me.

I laughed, letting out a sigh. "I was terrified, to be honest. I was just trying not to shake."

"I mean, you shut them right up though," he chuckled.

"Well after pushing in right away, we didn't give them much of a chance to respond. I could definitely see them glaring at me, though," I mentioned.

"Eh," Kirishima shrugged, "Some people can't handle the truth. What you did was awesome."

I smiled, rubbing the back of my neck nervously. "Besides that, thanks for standing up for me. It means a lot."

"Hey man," he grinned, "You did the same for me. I should be the one thanking you!"

"Let's just agree to thank each other, then?" I suggested.

Kirishima laughed, nodding. "Sure."

Are you not curious?

Do you not want to know why they hate you so much?

I chewed the inside of my cheek. Of course I'm curious. Of course I want to know. But...

Glancing over at Kirishima, I offered a slight smile. There are people who care. And they're the only ones I need. I'm sure there's a good reason why I shouldn't know.

Just keep telling yourself that.

"Young Midoriya," All Might greeted me at the door. "Was your ride home alright? What held you up?"

I walked inside, setting my things down. "Oh uh...," I mumbled, "Just an armed robber, it was nothing really."

All Might froze. "A what?"

"Well, you know," I laughed nervously, turning towards him. "There was just this guy and he was waving a gun around so Kirishima and I stopped him. Nothing happened, it's fine. Kirishima protected me from his shot."

"Prot... Protected you from his shot?!" All Might sputtered.

"He has a hardening quirk, so it wasn't too bad." Wow. That sounded really bad, actually.

All Might looked as if he might faint. "So... What happened?"

"Uhmm... He was threatening to rob everyone so Kirishima stepped forwards and tried to stop him. It didn't work but when he tried to fire his gun got jammed. So... I tackled him to the ground and handed him over to the police."

"And that's nothing?!" All Might asked, bewildered.

I winced. "...Yes?"

"You're going to be the death of me," he mumbled, sighing. "And... Afterwards?"

I hesitated, but realized that I should probably tell him. "Well apparently the guy was after me, sent by the League of Villains or something. People weren't happy about that and got kinda mad at me."

All Might stood there, bug-eyed as he stared at me. "...What?"

"Yeah, it's kinda crazy, huh?" I laughed nervously, glancing away.

"...That's more than crazy!" he blurted, hand pressed against his forehead. He paced back and forth, seeming incredibly concerned.

"Uh... Are you okay, All Might?" I asked.

He turned towards me. "How are you?!"

"I mean we did take him down...," I said awkwardly. "And no one got hurt, so it ended up alright."

All Might sat on the couch, shaking his head. "This is ridiculous."

"Sorry," I mumbled.

"No, no," he sighed. "You still did the right thing." He paused for a moment. "You really are just like me when I was younger."

"Is that a good or a bad thing?" I asked nervously.

He gave a slight laugh. "Both." After a moment, he spoke up. "C'mere."

Sitting down next to him, I stared down awkwardly.

"Young Midoriya, I think you're a true hero," he said.

My head snapped over to him, lips slightly parted in surprise. "...What?"

He smiled. "You're always throwing yourself into danger. Meddling where you don't have to. That's the essence of being a hero."

My heart fluttered. I'm... A hero?

All Might stood, walking down the hall towards his room.

Snapping out of my daze, I turned towards him, confused. "All Might? Where are you going?"

"Just stay there Young Midoriya," he said. "I'll just be a moment."
I nodded before turning, biting my lip. Is he actually upset with me? What could he be doing? Wh-

All Might was back in the room within mere moments, and he tossed a bag my way. Instinctively, I raised my hands, catching the bag.

I glanced down, furrowing my brows as it rested in my lap. "What's this?" I asked.

"Open it," he said simply.

After hesitating for a moment, I opened the bag, reaching inside only to feel fabric of some sort. Confused, I pulled the item out, only to see it was a costume.

It was a high grade green tracksuit-like costume and, upon digging further into the bag, I found a set of gloves, knee pads, and several other helpful items.

"Oh, one more thing," All Might mentioned, pulling another item out of the bag. He handed me a metallic mask, grinning. "It's got tons of great tech in there. A ventilator, night vision enhancers in the foldable eyeglasses, stuff like that. I uh," he laughed nervously, "I saw that you were writing in my old hero book."

I became red. "I'm so sorry, I-"

"It's fine," he smiled. "It's good that someone's using it, at least. I saw the immense detail in your work, by the way. It's quite impressive. You'd do well for yourself as an analyst hero," he mentioned, causing me to smile and scratch my jaw nervously. "But I also noticed a sketch in your book. I assumed it was a hero costume you had hoped for. I took it upon myself to ask for a few adjustments to make it actually work in the field and prevent it from being so easily damaged - I hope you don't mind."

I shook my head, breath caught in my throat. "Not at all."

"And," he smirked, "Don't think I didn't notice the resemblance to someone I might know. Little fanboy," he laughed.

Once again, I blushed, mumbling to myself.

"But with this," All Might offered me a grin, "You can truly become a hero. What do you say, Young Midoriya?"

I stared at him, gulping. After a moment, though, I laughed, wiping away joyful tears that fell from my eyes. "I think it's perfect. Thank you, All Might."

It'll only hurt worse when you're gone.
