"You of all, were the hardest lesson I ever had to learn."
Aaron's POV:-
"I'm begging you Care. She's all I have. I don't know what to do. Maybe I didn't know her at all and it's the reason she left me. I never even tried. I can't forgive myself. Please help me." I pleaded to her holding on to the tiniest but of hope.
She dropped back on the couch and closed her eyes momentarily.
"She doesn't know that I know about him. Nobody does. Not Brenn, her father, James. Nobody. She never said a word." She finally started speaking and turned to me.
"How do you even know that name Aaron. Ver made sure that nobody ever found out about him."
Care looked at me, her face slightly pale. "I......know just the name. Before our wedding I went to her house one night after she went to the charity event. The night she wore that red dress. She came back and I heard her talk to herself, she was crying. Then I heard her take his name once while she was sleeping in the car the day we arrived in San Francisco and from the looks of it she was running from him in her dream. I promised her I wouldn't push her about it, maybe I should have." I regret not pushing her for the truth.
"Sometimes, some things are better left unsaid, Aaron. It's been so long since I heard his name. I think maybe its been seven to eight years. There was a time when I had forgotten all my sorrows and this name had rung in my head for months." She spoke sitting back finally.
"Please tell me. I need to know." It was killing me to not know.
"Ver was never like the either of us. She always tried to find the deeper meanings of things. She's really passionate and you can tell by the way she never left her father even though he left her on her own right after her mom died. He arranged everything for the funeral but never showed up. Bren handled everything alone and the rest my mom and dad did. She stood alone when her mom was lowered to the ground completely and utterly alone no one to even hold her hand while it happened. It was the most heartbreaking thing to watch. It's the reason why I want you to find her and bring her home. I don't ever want her feeling like she's alone becausr that is exactly how she has felt all these years." I took her hand in mine as tears had started rolling down her face. I realized something.
"I remember that day. She looked so pretty and she was so strong throughout the process. I remember when mom and dad went on to give their condolences she thanked them for attending the funeral. Her black little dress had no wrinkle over it and she stood so gracefully." if I had known that time that she was going to be the girl who'd love me I would have probably told each and every person I knew. I was fascinated by her that day. We both stayed quiet for a bit.
"Well her father showed up two months later and during that time she had stopped going to school or seeing anybody at all. When her father did finally show up it was because he wanted her to go to school. Never hugged her or told her that he would take care of her even if her mom was not here anymore. She did go to school but two months later due to Bren being occupied by the whole household and handling everything all the time they needed a chauffeur to take her to school. Uncle Charles hired Keith Colson." She wiped off her tears.
"He was I think 22 or 23 at the time and I think he had been working in one of uncle Charles restaurants as a waiter. He was exceptionally good in talking people up and charming and handsome too. His work impressed uncle Charles who asked Keith if he was willing go do the job offcourse this seemed a promotion because uncle Charles kept his family very private thats why media does not know Ver that much, so he took it. I used to gush about Keith all the time to Ver. She was almost out of it with her mothers death and all but a few weeks later she started talking more and more and even smiled sometimes. In no time he became her bestfriend. Where she would sit in the back seat, now I saw her shotgun everytime he drove her to and from school." So far this was going good.
