So today was training day, but for me it was specialist training. I had finally decided to take Constantine up on the offer to learn how to control the magical portals I could create. Turns out it wasn't just a lesson, but he planned on using me to send a load of demons back to hell. Of course if he'd asked I would have automatically accepted, but I did not ask to be surrounded by demons whilst attempting to open a portal to hell. I focused as I heard him behind me, protecting me from any demons. "It's open!" I shouted.

The two of us switched positions. I protected Constantine from physical contact, deflecting the oncoming demons as best I could whilst he got his spell working. "Hurry up," I called out, groaning as another demon pushed their whole body against me. I stood quickly and drew a blade through it, tiring as it rebuilt itself again. "Constantine!"

"Alright luv I heard you. A few more moments," Constantine shouted back at me.

"I don't have a few more moments!"

His palms glowed gold and the demons got sucked into my portal. I could feel them trying to break it to other dimensions and had to hold it strong as they did. Constantine was making sure there were no stragglers, but the more demons through the portal, the weaker I got. "I'm closing the portal, it's draining me," I warned him. I closed the portal, sealing the demons in hell and taking a deep breath.

"Where's the bloody portal gone!" Constantine shouted, running towards me. I hadn't realised he had left, but behind him was a stray demon and I took a last breath before opening another portal and grabbing its attention, running through the portal to the other side. I was still running when I came out the other side, unaware of where I was. I heard it's demonic snarl as I backed up. It came through after me, gruesome slime and features all in tact. It didn't even try to break the portal, it just wanted me. I held my katanas in front of me clenching my grip since I had grown weaker from opening another portal.

It was relieving to see the grinning man in the trench coat come through behind it, already ready to damn it back to hell. I kicked it away from me as it lunged and Constantine sent it back to where it came from. "Good save luv, that should be the last of them, but we should check."

"Portal should take us back home, I can't hold it long," I told him. He nodded and quickly went through first. I was about to step in but a voice from behind me held me back. Curiosity got the best of me and I made myself struggle as I searched for the voice. "Is someone there?" I asked, holding my hands over the portal still.

"What did you do to that Demon?" It replied.

Well this was new. A normal person didn't know demons, wouldn't even register them. If a regular person saw a demon it would be most likely that their brain would automatically programme around it, inputting it as something completely different and more logical or by blanking it all completely. I sighed and let my curiosity get the best of me, closing the portal so to save my strength. On quick observation on my way through it was clear that I was on Earth, just not which Earth. Brand names and cars were familiar, the neon lights were unforgettable at this time of night in cities. I knew it definitely wasn't Gotham.

I waited for the questioning voice to reach me and instead it came with others and a glowing light. A stone, marked and glowing in the palm of one of them. I looked at them, did a double take and removed my mask, depositing it in my pocket. I had not expected to come here. Though it was a sensible choice on my part, if I was being chased by a demon there wasn't really any better place to go. After all, Shadowhunters were professionals when it came to slaying demons.

"Who are you?" Jace Herondale threatened me, a seraph blade pointed at me.

"How did you find the Institute?" Alec asked, his bow pulled tight.
